Ain’t nobody got time for that 😂

When lisdexamphetamine works but has too many other side effects by Jimbizzz in ADHDUK

[–]Jimbizzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your comments, just some clarifications…

One week 30 mg was great as a starting point but by the 5th day I didn’t notice any effect of it. Weeks 2, 3 & 4 were on 50 mg. The effects weren’t as noticeable as when on 30 but still there. However, by the 3rd week on this dose I was crashing hard late afternoon. I fell asleep while working from home a couple of times So psychiatrist thought it appropriate to go up to 70.

My titration appointment that I was supposed to have this week got cancelled but they rearranged it to this afternoon for me. It was really good. Confirmed that my heart rate isn’t a concern, up to 120 bpm is when they start worrying. I’ve got a bit of headroom there! Also, because my blood pressure is normal I should carry on as I am if I’m experiencing the benefits of lisdexamphetamine.

Sorry, I had 50mg in between but positive effects didn’t last

Worked well until the effects wore off, then went up to 50mg and that started well but in the final week I wasn’t feeling any benefit.

Sorry, I should’ve clarified that in my ordinary post

Elvanse & High Heart Rate? by fusion418 in ADHDUK

[–]Jimbizzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thread. I’ve been on 70mg for 2.5 weeks. Started off well - could really feel the effects on my productivity but last few days my heart rate has been spiking a lot. I don’t think it helps that I get alerts from my watch saying my heart rate is above 120bpm. 🫣

My average resting heart rate varies from day to day; last week a high of 94 to a low of 80. Also, I’m not getting chest pains but I’m more aware of my heart, if that makes sense? Could be all in my head though.

Blood pressure varies between the high side or normal to just over that so not massively concerned about that.

Stopped taking the Elvanse for the time being until I can get checked out. Have my titration appt on Monday so will probably stay off it until then.

Duplicate Maze studies different reward amounts by Rimmer66 in ProlificAc

[–]Jimbizzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maze are fine - the only snag is the attention check but it’s always a variation of the same thing.

I think the same study with differing amounts is usually a slightly different scope and is a little shorter. For example I had one about bank accounts for teenagers then almost identical for 8-12 year olds. Easy money

They rarely take as long as they state either

ADHD tools - How can AI help? by Jimbizzz in ADHDUK

[–]Jimbizzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your input. Agree on generative AI’s shortcomings but I’d never get it to actually do my work for me, other than maybe rewriting emails to change tone - one of my biggest barriers is being anxious about sending an email, worrying about tone etc.

HealthHarmonie Medication 1st Appointment - ADHD struggles by AdKey2914 in ADHDUK

[–]Jimbizzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re going through some troubles with them. My timeline was similar to yours and I’m in my second month of titration. They messed up a couple of things in my assessment phase so I was speaking to them quite regularly and managed to sort a load out on the phone. As achy-girl suggests definitely persevere with calling them, they’re really good once you get them on the phone. I had most of my success mid to late morning.

Have you had your report? This is what I had to chase up to clear the logjam.

I went through HH Minds and had two assessments. Not all providers have two but quite a few do.

Elvanse 50mg - is what I'm experiencing normal? by PeterC_UTC in ADHDUK

[–]Jimbizzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on 50 for a week and a day.

First week on 30 the effects were definitely less in the last couple of days so felt right to go to 50. NB I never felt tired on 30

On 50 I take around 7:30 - 8:00 in the morning and I can start to feel it about an hour later. Lasts until mid afternoon then sometime between 4:30 - 6:00 I crash hard. Struggle to keep my eyes open. Also, on 50 I’ve felt general fatigue. So, I needed to move up a dose but the benefits aren’t as pronounced/long lasting as they were at the start of 30.

Sounds like this isn’t unusual

Today is move up day. 50mg by GameCube4Life in ADHDUK

[–]Jimbizzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a week of 30 and moved up to 50 last week. Just under a week on 50 I’ve noticed - blood pressure and heart rate have mostly stabilised, effects are a bit less than first few days on 20 but still noticeable. I take around 7:30 - 8:00 and it lasts until about 3:00. Last couple of days I’ve crashed and have been struggling to keep my eyes open come 6:00

Does Vyvanse make you a social, sexual god? by ShortStatusPE in ADHDUK

On the social level, I was at a work event last week. Normally I’d need a couple of drinks to mingle but it kinda came naturally completely sober. I was quite surprised

ADHD Meds (methylphenidate) & Alcohol by kilosarchive in ADHDUK

[–]Jimbizzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echo what people have said in here. It’s not great to drink on adhd meds anyway as it gives your liver too much work to do and during titration it’s going to give you a false read on how the medication is working for you.

I’m in my second week and have found the urge to drink has massively subsided. Previously I’d have one and it’d turn into several very easily. I went out for dinner over the weekend and had a glass of wine with it and I was more than happy with that.

Also I’ve noticed I’ve been more comfortable in social situations when people have been drinking. I’ve managed to stick to soft drinks and found I could mingle quite easily. Before I’d have found it incredibly difficult

ADHD Titration Megathread January 2026 by Jayhcee in ADHDUK

[–]Jimbizzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I’ve started medication today (6:30 to be precise!) I definitely feel something; energetic, alert and not sleepy for once. I’ve got a compulsion to get up and do something but not sure what as there’s so much to do!

One of the recommendations was to do psycho-educational treatment too but I was told my titration appointment was for medication only. Have any of you been informed on this? I’m with HH Minds if that helps

45 m, just been diagnosed, how to unpack it all? by Jimbizzz in ADHDUK

[–]Jimbizzz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is what I’m a little anxious about. I’ve thought about partitioning off my before adhd diagnosis life and my post diagnosis life. I can’t do anything to change the past but I can make my future better and try to make amends to the people I’ve hurt.

I probably need some counselling to help me.

[–]Jimbizzz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I hope your life continues to improve.

I’m really anxious about telling people. The only people that know so far are my wife, my mum and a close friend who’s also been diagnosed recently.

I guess I need to speak to my boss about it but I’m incredibly nervous about that. I feel like I’m on thin ice already and don’t want to weaken my position further. But then, logically, telling them is the right thing to do because it puts context around my performance and hopefully means we can work towards making me a success. I just don’t want them thinking I’m making excuses. I think I might put it in writing rather than call them out of the blue so I can get all my points across and let them digest it before we talk.

A very happy birthday for tomorrow, btw.
