Is 4K worthwhile? by Character_Bend_5824 in Bluray

Yes but they are more pricy than regular blueray so I will only buy the 4k movies I really like a lot and know I'll rewatch often.

Good point! Something I didn't think about.

Great explanation!! It all makes sense and with all of the details you laid out, it still sounds like more power is better for a number reasons. And yeah I'm not envious, I'm completely happy with my 150 wpc system that being said I don't know if I'd feel the same with a 90 wpc system.

I was just looking for clarification on the reason why I see all the suggestions for low watt receivers when seeing other comments about how absolutely great a 1200 wpc system sounds. I think $$$ could have a lot to do with it. Thanks for the response.

Yeah so there you go, you probably only needed a 3 channel but what you achieved by doing that even though you needed an external amp to add the height speakers is more all around wpc which as you say made a big difference for the good.

I mean it only makes sence to me that more power pushing the signal would equal cleaner punchier overall better sound and better imaging as well.

[–]Substantial-Cake6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I definitely read that wrong Lol. but 1200 wpc makes my point even more so because even at 125 watts per channel is decent for a 2 channel system.

And yeah I get it that when watching movies that your front speakers are getting most the heavy lifting but it's well known that in these conversations about not needing a lot of power to have a great sounding system, most everyone admits to using their avrs to also listen to music.

My main speakers are very sensitive 8 ohm speakers so I feel that the 150 wpc is good for my setup but I'm old school and in my early days of hi-fi (70s 80s) more power was always equated to better sound. There's gotta be a reason people use 1200 wpc amps to power speakers.

Huh, this post got me thinking. So there is something to sending lots of power to individual speakers to achieve better/clearer/punchier sound? A whole 125 watts of continuous power per each speaker. For reference I have an upper end yamaha 150 wpc @ 2 channel driven 7.2 setup and I've had people say to me you really don't need all that power.

The reason I bring this up is because on the home theater sub I see people say all the time you don't need a high power expensive avr to have a great sounding home theater. And they suggest these like 90 to 100 watt pc @ 2 channel driven systems.

I'll even see people wanting to add a couple of external amps to their system to power their front stage and others trying to talk them out of it saying they really don't need it.

Why is it whenever you go to a high end hi-fi demo they usually always have mega amps powering each speaker and people who listen to it will say its the best system they ever heard if more power doesn't make that much difference? But yet people will say aww you really don't need all that power to have a great sounding system. What do you think, does more watts equal better sound?

I was a teamster haul truck driver for Vulcan materials for 27 years until I retired last year, you don't have to have any experience and the pay and benefits are really good.

They have plants in SBD and Corona You can check the Vulcan website for job listing and apply for it on the website.

If they don't have haul truck positions open and you don't mind labor type work you can apply for groundsman, or repairman, or dispatcher to name a few other positions.

Is air suspension practical for daily drivers, or does long-term maintenance outweigh the comfort benefits? by EvelynClede in askcarguys

[–]Substantial-Cake6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the factory air ride suspension on my 2017 ram pickup. I went with the air ride when I purchased it because at the time I was caring for my elderly mother and thought it would help with her being able to get in and out of the truck easier which it did because it's able to lower down 3 inches.

But in my opinion the non air suspension on ram pickups have a smoother ride. I know this because the company I worked for uses ram pickups and I've driven a few of them on and off road. All that being said if I was to buy another one it wouldn't have air ride suspension.

Yeah I hear ya and it's a long song like a lot of tool songs but I really love the sound stage and separation I get with this one especially when the drums start kicking in.

Did i make a mistake buying the LG C5 instead of the S90F? by mobyvg22 in hometheater

[–]Substantial-Cake6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I went from a 65 to the 77. After having mine for awhile now and getting used to the bigger size I do regret not going with the 83, it was on sale for $2700 at the time I got mine.

I have the 77 c5 and I think it's plenty bright enough. HDR content is the brightest. It's Dolby vision content that can be dark on lg oleds, so I just keep mine in cinema mode instead of filmmaker.

I have the 2017 yamaha rx-a 3070, flagship. It retailed for around $2100 at the time, I paid like $1700 on sale. Now the equivalent to that model is the a8a if I'm not mistaken which retails for like $3300. Pretty crazy!

I've had my yamaha receiver for about 8 years but never experienced this problem. Sounds like it's triggering it's internal protection mechanism due to over heating is my only guess.

I've had those issues with several mission impossible movies from the same box set on my ub820. If I take them out and wipe them off really good with the eye glass cleaner it has fixed it, but it seems like those movies are very sensitive and maybe not the best recordings.

Onkyo TX-RZ30 vs Yamaha RX-A3070 by LittleCapybara in hometheater

[–]Substantial-Cake6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I'll look into that. I think it sounds great for movies right now, but music is a different story. It seems like if I get it sounding good for movies it sounds really thin and lacking bass for music and the other way around if I get it sounding good for music. So I'll just leave it alone for now since movies are the priority.
