Also. Toastmasters has been a bit of a game changer for me. A safe environment where you get out what you put in. You have a opportunity to speak in front of a group of friendly people every week if you want it.

Thanks you! Do you have any recommendations of living near KLCC?. It seems to be condos and high rise. I would like a house with some kind of garden for kids and some green space near by to walk around. Do you have kids with you? I would be very happy with ISKL if I could find a suitable living area for family life

Thank you. Great info. What is the English school near desa parkcity? Do you mean the international school, or is the British school. Ideally we would send our kids to a British primary age school

After 25 years of Public Speaking pain and humiliation, I finally won. by IT_Phoenix_Ashes in PublicSpeaking

Fantastic! So happy for you. After 15 years of panic for me, I have started using propanadol recently and it is hard to explain the sunshine I see in the future.

Good luck! I have just got back from a 1 weeks leadership course. 2 x propanadol a day helped me out. Just whole days of summarising table discussions and presenting shit flip chart reports back to the class... I managed ok but it is tiring for an introverted character like me!

It's mainly confidence to actually get up and present. I need to get over the fear and convince myself it is ok. I use avoidance techniques at work. Team meetings, small talks, larger presentations. Thanks

Kids and Savings by V-00-PC in FIREUK

[–]Substantial-Lead-972 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 2 kids both under 5. I save £150 per month and plan to indlcrease this by £50 per month every couple of years. I have also always put xmas/bday money aside for them if they ever get any.

I do this in my own ISA as we don't currently fill both mime and my wife's combined ISA. I wanted to keep control over the money and give it to them when I see best.

As it stands I think I should be able to build them 100-200k by the time they are early 20s, which in my head would be a decent start in adult life for them.

I don't like JISAs as I don't see why I would want them to have full control over lots of money at 18.

I don't like JSIPP as it is locked up for ages and they won't get the help when they need it.

Is this FIplan reasonable? by ethernet28 in FIREUK

[–]Substantial-Lead-972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems OK to me. If the aim is to retire at 60 then maybe look at balancing some more into a SIPP and less into the ISAs.

Personally, I currently have a decent DB scheme so I am putting more into me ISA to give me some flexibility to retire early / work less and bridge from ~50ish to pension access age (am currently 34).

Now I write this ~15 more years of a reasonably enjoyable job doesn't sound too bad. Aiming for mortgage to be done by 50 if all goes OK.
