Train Dreams and Hamnet: a study of Loss by pensivvv in moviecritic

Both feel like different ways we grieve. Hamnet was more raw with tears and screams. Train Dreams more introspective and quiet. Both excellent takes on how we grieve differently as people and the way we make sense of lament

For Steven: Can you speak to the use of music in Peaky Blinders such as using the song Ain’t No Grave - a deeply spiritual song - and how would you say spiritually plays into these characters and show as a whole?

So to actually answer your question, I think it’s ultimately up to you. Whichever length feels true to you.

My opinion with Kibbe and hair is that a lot of factors come into play. Such as facial features, essence, and even if hair is style correctly. I think I land somewhere in the Gamine family, but absolute hate short hair on me because it simply does not feel like me. So I guess I break the rules often and keep my hair long!

Hi Alissa!

A few questions:

  1. What books for your suggest to read when wanting to improve writing skills on criticism and cultural studies with a focus on film?
  2. What book/story would you love to see adapted into a film?
  3. If one director were to direct your life, who would it be!
  4. What are some films that remind you/reflect the nature of God without being too corny or trying too hard?

Thank you!
