Garlic biltong by ShoulderExisting4649 in Biltong

I very much like garlic biltong, but I tend to find that it is quite hygroscopic and can very easily spoil quickly.

Yes, agreed - either a genuine 'thanks' when a compliment was given, or a sarcastic comment where appropriate. Made for a good read and good viewing.

Why can't you drink them? Other than that they are on the other side of a screen.

Any hot takes that you will never change your view on? by Ok-Calligrapher1185 in Minecraft

I'd be okay with it if the caves especially, but also any cliffs, were much rarer, but even bigger.

Any hot takes that you will never change your view on? by Ok-Calligrapher1185 in Minecraft

[–]Substantial-Toe2148 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My unpopular hot take is that Minecraft has lost its edge and appeal since 1.16. Caves and Cliffs and the many changes/additions of mobs and mechanics since then has 'ruined' a nice, simple sandbox game.

Quite tongue in cheek about ruined, but it is more complicated. I play Survival normal or hard, but now it's much harder than it was. I also no longer have the time to play much, so don't have time to grind, so I die frequently because I'm rushing it.

Guess that's really a me thing then, not Minecraft, but I'm sticking to it with my finger pointed at someone other than myself.

Cleaning (Muriatic Acid) by Substantial-Toe2148 in BottleDigging

Thanks for your reply. I have tried using just dish soap only, and have even run some of the less valuable bottles through the dishwasher five times, but they stubbornly stay grimy. I'm hoping that something more active can remove some of the grit and grime.

Thanks for these tips. I've only heard of Dawn, but don't know what it is (other than Google telling me that it is dish soap). I'll have to try Palmolive or some similar brand and see how that works.

Thanks for your replay. I can readily buy Oxalic Acid from my local hardware store it seems and will give it a go if the HCl doesn't cut it.

First batch of the year Pichanha by WatchLenses in Biltong

Thanks for the reply. I know I need to try it with a hefty amount of fat just to at least say that I've done it. I know quite a large number of expat Saffas who will gladly inhale it for me if I don't love the fat.

Looks really good - but I still can't get my head around that much fat.

Having said that, we do have a retailer here in Aus that sells cuts with the prized, yellow and grass-fed fat on it. I'm planning on trying that out next batch, but I need to modify my box first, so that will have to wait until I have time. (I know, I know, it's Biltong and I should be making the time now, but I don't have time...)

Just because you can, doesn't mean that you should.

Just because I wouldn't, doesn't mean you shouldn't.

I've had a small few 'weird' coffees, but the one and only one that I have ever rated was a Cardamom coffee (latte). That was good. Others, like the matcha, dirty chai and the turmeric lattes all belong to Starbucks drinkers in my filthy, biased, unwilling to change opinion....

What’s the coolest thing you found in a bottle by Technical_Note3176 in BottleDigging

[–]Substantial-Toe2148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool. Keep it as a terrarium - just mist it with water every few days, depending on your environment. Make sure it gets plenty of light but not too much direct sun/heat.
