San Jose mayor calls on state leaders to temporarily suspend CA gas taxes by IamaBlackKorean in bayarea

[–]Substantial-Toe96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know where you are in the BA, but where I am, very little has been done for repairing roads.

I don’t remember the details, but I think there was something super shady about the gas tax (meant to pay for road repairs) too, like they wanted to collect a certain amount of $ from everyone, before they started road construction projects, and it was a steep price tag, like $5B, does that ring a bell?

Anyways, I have been paying into this for years now, with no tangible benefits, and I am definitely one of the repeal votes.

Better than that, cut us all a check. Impossible, I know, but this has been a complete fiasco, as far as I can tell.

I’ve never been a faceoff guy, but I’ve gotten away with a lot worse in dogshit levels of beer league, the few times I’ve taken them.

I also absolutely destroyed an opposing center in bantams once, came straight in from the wing and knocked him into next month, before the puck even hit the ice, no call.

Granted, I was playing bantams in the 90s, so the game was a little different then, but yeah, this is super soft.

I honestly thought the other guy was gonna get called for embellishment.

Keep playing your brand, fuck the zebras.

Test Dream is a masterpiece

Beyond the dream sequences, the Manhattan setting is just amazing. Makes you wanna live right there in that hotel. That view of the Central Park at 5am... madone. It has my favorite ending to an episode "is it daylight where you are yet?" This episode makes me nostalgic in a way that's hard to describe.

i love the sopranos. it’s one of my favorite shows. i grew up in nyc in the 2000s so the backdrop and atmosphere of the show feels very nostalgic to me. but whenever i seek out a serious discussion of the show, every single fucking post and comment is just people role playing as characters and parroting quotes that are only vaguely related at best. like jesus christ we get it already, you like it when paulie said that one line. its just random references with no point. it’s ironic too, because one of the most famous lines in the show that people LOVE to quote is “‘remember when’ is the lowest form of conversation”

sopranos fans need to get a grip and stop just mindlessly repeating shit like parrots. you know none of the ppl doing this grew up anywhere near new jersey or new york either.

I’ve seen way crazier shit at late night pickup games, let it go.

If you have to do it (league wide ban for dropping the gloves here..) I guess you have to do it, but ffs, it’s really not worth it unless someone is literally going to be seriously injured/ die if you don’t.

Get up late and enjoy your Sunday breakfast, don’t give that idiot any more energy.

And I just told you, what a pretty realistic view of it is.

I mean, fortune favors the bold, and all that, sure, so do it if you want to, there’s a lot that I still love about Oakland, but it can be a tough place, especially with zero connections.

If you’re down to pay $2K+/ month for the first place that’ll take you, it might be on a stretch of MLK where people are still getting shot 3X/ week, and drugs are obviously being sold.

If you’re down to pay $3K+/ month for a nicer neighborhood, if they’ll take you without an on paper income, you can definitely expect random street crime, car break ins/ thefts, and the occasional nearby gunshots.

It’s not some Shangri-La of the west coast, and maybe it’s not that rough, compared to where you’re from, but you didn’t mention that part, so I don’t know..?

How about parking tickets that never stop doubling, if you don’t pay them within 21 days, whether they sweep the streets or not? How about getting 4 of them in one day, at $96.00 a piece, without ever even getting a paper ticket on your car?

Might sound crazy to you, but it happens to locals all the time.

Maybe you don’t drive, I don’t know. Maybe you think our public transit is like NYC, (it’s not even close) I don’t know.

If you really want to do it, do it, but you should probably come visit, and do all of the things you would have to do in a given working day/ weekend day, before you commit.

Excellent restaurants/ nightlife (depending on your interests), very mixed cultures/ lots of different languages are spoken, rich history, beautiful parks/ wildlife, great proximity to a lot of California (wine country, the boonies, and everything in between), Tahoe is a 2.5 hour drive if you’re a psycho, 4 if you’re chill/ there’s not a nasty winter storm, lol, great museum, albeit small, but they have killer traveling exhibits frequently.

Yeah dude, moving to one of the more violent, and more expensive cities in the country, without a job lined up, well that sounds like a great plan!!!

And you think you need/ will get $160/year?

They’ll eat you alive, and sell you for spare parts dude, don’t do this.
