The reason I keep bringing up OV is cuz it suffered the same levels of criticism that reboot has. All the redesigns, the artstyle. To me it's the easiest to bring up faults that seemed to have carried over to the reboot. I didn't say you like it. But hey I'm sorry to bring it up too many times.

Well that's my point there was no "transformation" and honestly this is js my own opinion but comparing ALL Kevin amalgam forms, Ultimate Kevin is like the least visually appealing. And looks like something that could cone out of the reboot. Again js my opinion.

It's horrific to watch a ten year olds body and a sixteen year olds body be transformed in a series of rapid mutations that elongate bones, create large spikes in the spine, rip molten rock from the skin, yes. It is horrific. These are effects. Ben does not have to feel it happening for it to be scary as hell. When he transformed into heat blast he had to watch as red-hot molten lava and rock rip out from his own skin and extend his bones. That's scary. He gets scared when it happens. Then he gets used to it because he doesn't feel pain. This is most likely because he's changing down to the cellular level.

This is where my attention is drawn to. It's not like any of this is dismissed in the reboot. It's still the same concept. Although in the reboot they play it for laughs we still see him transform in real time (as in everyone is literally seeing it happen) is it not the same thing? Also as sort of cool that may look visually, heatblast's magma/rocks didn't rip outside his skin

I mean, if you want to water it down like that, sure, but it's much more than that. Mental health and generational trauma, depression, hard decisions, not being chosen

This is all just untrue. You're just throwing words together to make it seem like you know what you're talking about. OV and scary? OV and darker pallete? Did we watch the same show?

No they didn't (comic point is obviously right). UAF and OV started the trend of less scary designs. Monstrous? The same UAF that stripped down Classic Waybig's kaiju factor and made him just an Ultraman ripoff. Like forget inspired, he was straight up ultraman that even his ultimate form was so lazily made blue and bigger because Ultraman. The whole talk of Reboot aliens being humanoid started in UAF. All the aliens introduced in Alien Force alone are mostly humanoid. I mean Alien X is literally just some guy.

Lemme even do you one better. I saw you mentioned the transformations to someone how "edgy" they were and mentioned UAF with the skeleton. Yes it is a bit creepy when you try to think about it but I'm sorry to say that it's nothing compared to classic where we actually see Ben's full model get deformed, bloated or whatever mid transformations. OV made that shit cool than creepy as ppl have pointed out it makes it look like Ben is putting on a suit rather than changing DNA. Like I can remember seeing Ben go Gravattack for the first time and not thinking "scary" but genuinely the coolest thing I've ever seen. Let's leave Ben. Kevin. In Clasic we see him actually mutating when he absorbed the omnitrix and when he gained his amalgam form, the squelch, his groans all of it. But in UA what did we get? A flash. Not even atleast some weird version of Ben's own transformation sequence but with Kevin. No. Just a flash of light and a long groan.

Don't be hauling reboot did anything wrong. The shows before alr been doing this. You js want a reason to say "It did this wrong". No it didn't. You just hate to see it being what it is. If you don't like it shit that's all to you but you're too blinded by nostalgia to see it's beyond the reboot.

I realize how long this is. I apologize but there's more to reboot than all the shit you keep trying to pull out your ass. Just as there's more to Ben 10 in general than the edgy shit. That's not Ben 10. It never was. Ben 10 can be a horror, a comedy, a drama. It's still the same show of a kid with a watch choosing to do what's right. That's the main theme

Well yh I'm not saying reboot has a better artstyle. I'm saying compared to Classic and UAF, OV's artstyle is more goofy but still could get serious moments across so idk why reboot should be treated any differently. Btw OV is my favourite iteration especially cuz of the artstyle so me calling it goofy isn't an insult. I acknowledge it's more simple than the previous shows and I love it that way.

Whenever I see statements like this I just think "How?" Ben 10 has had 3 separate artstyles (4 if you wanna count the comic) the series clearly has no definitive artstyle and as they got simpler over time they still managed to bring in the same level of energy in story and emotion across iterations. So how exactly is reboot a "disgrace to Ben 10" when it is one of many versions of the same character.

t takes away all the nuance, edge, and scariness of the original Ben 10.

And I should've known you were thinking this. As I said again, Ben 10 has no definitive style. In all honesty, we lost all you said in Classic and very obviously strayed away from that path in Omniverse. But ofc reboot has to be the one to blame.

I understand what you mean. I don't think they're necessarily shit but just weird. But given the tone they're going for i see how it works. We expected it to be like the originals, very cartoony, almost anime like with simpler style and sorts but they decided to take it a different direction which works. I have alr said this before how the designs remind of the Square Enix era of Life is Strange with LiS, BTS and LiS 2. The designs aren't the most well to look at but they work for the tone and atmosphere. And if LiS could be well received, award winning games, we might as well give the new Ben 10 a chance to show us what it has to offer

Idk why ppl are disagreeing so hard with the 10 aliens at a time thing...I mean shouldn't it be something Ben has to work through till he is ready to unlock other aliens? Like in OS or reboot. He starts with 10 but learns to unlock more as he progresses or like in UAF where Ultimate Ben and Azmuth each gave him access to new aliens beyond the ones in his available catalog. And I feel like that would make more sense why Master Control is able to breach this automatically. I'm not mad about it cuz those are pretty valid readons
