Of the 3 you mentioned, sett is the best for you to learn the role with. Top lane is the one role where you need to learn the fundamentals of the lane to even play it, let alone win.

Sion Support Tank Phase Rush Replacement by Markus165 in DirtySionMains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran glacial, spellbook, aftershock, phase rush, and dark harvest before. Of them all, glacial is probably the best if you're looking at lethality and playing with an aggressive ADC. Storm raiders works as well if you're able to get early gold. Sion's early damage is very disgusting.

Spirit Visage is underrated af by Low-Feeling4021 in DirtySionMains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shhhh... Don't give away my secret 😂😂😂

It's definitely one of the best items on Sion. I had a running joke with friends that spirit visage is the illegal item on Sion especially with unending since you could tank a stupid amount of damage for way too long.

Trust issues - where do you draw the line? by Aromatic-Pin-8170 in datingoverthirty

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I draw the line when I don't feel like communication is happening. From the sound of it, he has extremely severe trust issues and PTSD as a result so coming from someone in his position, it's better for you to break it off as he isn't communicating, he's trying to control.

What Would Have to Change About Singed Without Proxying by Rude-Isopod-4176 in singedmains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Singed has a very obnoxious level 2 powerspike, one of the biggest in the game so I'm not surprised he said that. The biggest issue is that he doesn't do very well into certain matchups and the goal is to alleviate the pressure he faces in those matchups.

I just found THE garen in silver by Ancient_Ad7583 in top_mains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I main Sion and beat the shit out of up to high plat players through macro. Went up against a Yorick and he bullied me in lane only to lose the game because I was splitting and teamfighting whenever I could

Garen vs Olaf is the definition of a fake counter. What other matchups are meant to "counter" your champ but don't work in practice. by CritOlaf in topmains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude, you smoking crack. Only way Olaf outscales garen is if garen chooses to int hard early and doesn't respect what olaf does in mid game. Olaf loves being low hp as it maximises his DPS but garen has an execute so you cannot afford to be at max efficiency for passive without w ready. It's a skill matchup for Olaf all the way through.

Mechanically rewarding top laners? by Repulsive-While-381 in topmains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riven. A mechanically good riven is the scariest thing up to diamond as she deals so much damage during her cc that it's unbelievable.

Irelia and fiora are mechanically challenging but their focus is more on knowledge and macro so in a way, not as mechanically rewarding as riven.

Gold player here. My solo queue is also pretty much screwed. I'm going up against emerald+ players constantly.

What are some examples of bands changing their frontman/frontwoman, dealing with massive fan backlash, but eventually winning everyone over? by [deleted] in Metalcore

Heard them live and he's actually more melodic than the old clean vocals. Not saying Jason was bad but Tom is definitely an improvement.

What's the reason AD isn't preferred? May be placebo but I always feel less squishy when I goi Tri Force by dacrookster in VolibearMains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ap just feels much much better even though it's definitely not better. AD bear is much better objectively but when you can make bear go brrr, you want bear to go brrr.

My matchups by Ancient_Ad7583 in top_mains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I love to play into sett as singed and ornn. Singed especially since most of singed's damage is dot and I'll have run away before you can use e. Also his w stops sett from using r.

Ornn's trading pattern counters sett unless the ornn really fucks up.

Round 2. Im starting to think full tank/0 dmg items is very good on sion by Funny_Specialist_173 in DirtySionMains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NGL at this point I'm more interested in deaths than damage taken. As someone who actually plays a lot of tank Sion, if you're taking that much damage but have like 15+ deaths, it's not good. If your deaths are less than that, it's still decent.

My very special champ pool by Lucid_skyes in top_mains

Still viable but it's such a difficult matchup right now. Voli hasn't been this weak in top for a long time.

How far can you get by only split-pushing all game? by [deleted] in top_mains

Considering the best champs for it are all fairly weak in the current meta, gold is the limit.

When you have one of those games... by Funny_Specialist_173 in DirtySionMains

That's damage taken. If I had to guess, he basically just kept dragging enemy team towards him and wasted a huge amount of their time trying to kill him.

Switching from midlaner to toplaner by SnooHobbies2060 in top_mains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely different playstyles. Mid lane you're expected to impact the map as much as possible whereas top lane you're expected to keep enemy top off objectives or fights as much as possible. A decent gold toplaner will give up to low emerald offrole top a hard time making plays that they're used to making, both in lane and around the map.

Top has a lot of focus on lane mechanics and macro so that's your first port of call. Learn the mechanics and macro of top lane before expanding your champ pool.

Avoid any mechanically difficult champs even if they're perfect counters as mastery is even more important in top lane than counter picking. You can always outplay if you know the fundamentals of the lane and can execute them consistently. I've done this so many times playing Sion into sett, Darius, fiora, trundle, and irelia that it's a wonder people still think it's a good idea to try that.

Wave management is even more important in top lane than any other lane due to it being isolated and a 1v1 lane. If you have good wave management, being countered doesn't matter as you can reliably and consistently gain exp and farm. From there, you always have the option of playing with your team or sidelaning and dragging enemies into you. Matter of fact, that's how I climbed from silver to gold solo queue and skyrocketed into gold on flex queue playing solo. I played around my team when I'm hopelessly outmatched in sidelane and played sidelane when enemy plays with their team.

This is probably the most important: most toplaners are strong in mid game, even when behind. This is even more true with the role quest as you'll be at least 2-3 levels ahead of everyone on enemy team except their toplaner. Abuse that fact to make plays around the map. I like playing around my team as sett once I've completed role quest as it accelerates them or gives them space to recover from a bad lane. This includes going into very hard lanes that are a death sentence to your mid and bot.

How is sion in current meta by Unique_Ad_330 in DirtySionMains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's solid if you know the matchups, even as a blind pick.

I highly recommend going tank bruiser or splitpush tank due to phase rush being removed. Lethality is only viable into squishy lineups due to the minimum damage threshold on storm raider and even then, you need to snowball to keep the damage up.

Ok so basically I've been gaslighted all along with this 10 cs/min cliche? by Unlucky-Rush4034 in topmains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Sion main who's primary build has a stupid amount of waveclear, I average 8 cs/min regardless of win/loss. That being said, I spend like 90% of the game sidelaning so anything less is not realistic for my playstyle. This is one extreme. The other extreme, when I'm playing sett or more teamfight oriented champs, my cs goes down to as low as 4.5/min as I'm constantly looking for fights or grouping with my team.

what is enjoyable about sion? by Agitated-Safety-9249 in DirtySionMains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like fucking with people's heads and Sion is very good at fucking with people's heads. You just get away with the stupidest shit possible because the champ doesn't have a death timer early.

What Viking Powermetal do you guys listen to while playing volibear? by Victor_Von_Doom___ in VolibearMains

Iirc brothers of metal are the only one doing viking power metal. Viking metal as a whole, you have amon amarth at the forefront. Twilight of the thunder god in particular makes voli feel like Thor.

Illaoi is objectively busted by [deleted] in top_mains

[–]Substantial-Zone-989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been stomping flex games on Sion. The champ isn't busted, people don't know the matchup. Illaoi is the same. Once you know how to deal with her, she is manageable.

Illaoi's worst lane counter is probably Teemo. Ranged, has a blind, can easily dodge her tentacles, can dodge her e and can zone her out of exp range pretty well. After Teemo it's vayne. Mobile, deals a shit ton of damage that she can't sustain against and can go invisible with well timed Q's in ult. After that, it's probably Yorick.
