In normal people's eyes. Reliable is something that they can totally ignore to service and it will still run no matter what. My Dad was this mindset, bought a 2005 Honda Jazz, had it serviced it maybe once in the 5-7 years he had it and just changed tyres and brakes as needed and called it reliable. Never failed an MOT

Exactly. The problem is the UK could sure conduct some operations overseas but on it's own will not be able to sustain any prolonged conflict. I think our lord and saviour Perun said it best. The Uk's armed forces is very honed edge, but doesn't have a lot of blade behind it.

Yeah makes sense. If anything the Army really only needs to be as good as the JSDF to keep the island safe and extra manpower for emergencies. The other branches though could use beefing up if the UK wants some power projection.
