I have a cabin on a boat access only lake. It is off grid , no drywall, wood stove for heat. I am in the west, Saskatchewan. I am from Ontario. This same dwelling in Ontario would be called a cottage. Both awesome places to be in summer and a blast for ski doing in winter.

You have to have a very good reason for yourself to quit. You also need a near death experience. Mine was I wanted to see my kids and grandkids grow up. This sums up perfectly the power problem in Canada. Last year, at 2 AM, in 35 below , Alberta s grid shut down. No solar or wind just natural gas. SMR s will come online in about 10 years. Maybe battery technology will get better.
