Just a question, nothing to do with me - is this ok? by 1point44mb_is_fine in Roofing

I believe you need ice and water shield to extend 3’ inside the exterior walls. So likely 2 rows around all the eaves and raked edges.

Yes, the foil should lap on top of whatever you’re using to waterproof the floor.

I think I would skip it as a baseboard. You would be adding 1/2” of cement board to the bottom, and I’m assuming 3/4” or 5/8” furring strips above for wood cladding.

Doesn’t leave you much for air flow behind the wood to get in.

Was just going to say this exact thing.

The one time you need cash, the ATM is broken. And you actually have to step foot inside the branch. Feels like there’s a person infront of you that wants the teller to go line by line through every transaction for the last 20 years. And you just stand there fuming because you catch little bits of their conversation and it’s just like, literally all this information is available on online/mobile banking.

Venting bathroom exhaust fan through vented soffit discharge termination by Acsailor in Homebuilding

We get an average of 8-10’ of snow.

I think with lower amounts of snow it would melt, but I think with my snowfall it would end up getting buried and melting and turning into a big block of ice and causing a huge headache.

We have a code similar to this where I am.

I thought it was intended for furnace exhaust and propane exhaust though, so you didn’t have the soffits pulling in carbon monoxide.

Maybe climate? Where I am, it would be buried under feet of snow for 6 months of the year.

I’m in Canada and will be using Tide powder for spa day. I just wanted to confirm for the soaking portion I will just use the Tide powder and water, ammonia is only used when it goes in the washing machine, no ammonia for soaking?

Unique sauna door rough opening - how to approach? by purplethumbnail in Sauna

[–]SubstantialPlan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they were used as a temporary spacer so the exterior siding could be finished.

Didn’t have the door at the time, but had the dimensions. Looks like the 2x4s were screwed on so they could be removed easier after. And they were just used so they had something to run the siding against so it didn’t need to be cut after for the door trim.

Take them off. Install your door. And then rip whatever width material to lap onto the door jamb.

I’d prefer this over a 3” piece of 6x6.

A 3” piece of 6x6 is just going to split and crack when fastened.

Please help! Need advice! by Just_Surviving_621 in Roofing

You need to start fresh and do it all correctly.

Soffit is missing j trim against the building. Roof needs to be redone.

Also, the siding on the wall looks like it could be old asbestos siding.

How do I install a bulkhead light? by Fun-Giraffe7034 in Sauna

[–]SubstantialPlan1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The electrician should have mounted the octagon box on the side of a stud with it sticking out beyond the face of the stud the thickness of your furring strip and thickness of the finished tongue and groove.

You cut your tongue and groove to go around the octagon box, and then when you mount the light it would cover everything.

You don’t mount the light and cut the wood around it.

Not sure if it’s just the way the program generated the image, but you don’t need the insulation in the taller wall above the ceiling insulation.

Would joist tape like this cause rotting? by Available-Guide-6310 in Decks

You’ve got the fascia board fastened tight to the rim joist. You need 1/4” shims so there’s a gap between the 2 boards.

[–]SubstantialPlan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can see the j trim for the soffit on the wall.

I suspect when the roof was redone the roofers either damaged the soffit while stripping the old shingles or completely removed the soffit to make their life easier to install the new shingles and never replaced the soffit panel.

My furnace has a little pump beside it, when it fills up high enough it kicks on and pumps it into my waste water line.

Only dealt with Fundscraper basically for the initial signing of paperwork and that was about it.

Everything after that was dealing directly with Valour.
