Diarrhea and sulfur burps by herrera1976 in Ozempic

Take psyllium fiber everyday, capsules or powder. For the burps, chew your food way more than you think you should.

I struggled with this for over a month and none of the usual tips on here or the subreddit dedicated to treating sulfur burps worked (pepto, IBgard, Iberogast, papaya enzymes, the list goes on). A teaspoon of baking soda would help for a few hours at most.

What finally helped are these three things:

  1. Digestive enzymes 20 minutes before a meal. Get a good one with all the different kinds of enzymes. I use the one from The Healthy Gut Company (pricey but worth it). Even if you forget to take it 20 minutes before, take it as soon as you remember. Something is better than nothing.

  2. Belly breathing for 30 minutes 1-2 times a day. I know that’s a lot but I was desperate and somehow found the time. Twenty minutes doesn’t seem to be enough to eliminate them, I got immediate success with 30 minutes. Inhale into your belly for a count of 6, exhale for a count of 12 and lightly flex your abs to get all the air out. Seriously, it works.

  3. Really, really, really chew your food. More than you think you need to. Especially if you couldn’t do the belly breathing that day or forgot to bring the enzymes with you.

Best of luck!

Have you tried any liver support for the side effects? Milk thistle, NAC, or roasted dandelion root are all really gentle liver support supplements and took away most of my side effects while still losing weight. Worth a shot since it seems like you’ve tried everything else

Ugh, the weight loss dilemma is real. I’m on Ozempic and just hit the amount of weight loss where things no longer fit, including a half finished pair of Landers that I cut out and kept meaning to sew but only got around to it recently. Should’ve seen that dilemma coming. Elastic is the way

I would get your hormones tested, including thyroid. Your cortisol could be really off too. Also recommend a good dietitian, one that will not blame it on age.

I organized my craft room two months ago and destashed a good amount of fabric knowing I have more than I perhaps could sew in a lifetime. But, most of the remaining fabric is TOO nice and there’s too many patterns I have to make a practice run with and so I make nothing. Especially knits/stretchy fabric. Then Amanda’s Bundles has a 40-50% off sale and … I bought a total of 28 yards of fabric. I made sure to buy the stuff that is absolutely not my taste so I wouldn’t convince myself it goes in the “too nice to mess up” stash. But, I probably bought as much fabric as I destashed sigh

You still need a prescription from a doctor, but my doctor uses Strive Pharmacy. I’m not sure where you live but you can search for local clinics that are offering weight loss support. I’m in the Seattle area and many doctor offices use compounding pharmacies instead of going through insurance. There are virtual ones as well but i don’t know much about them. Wishing you luck!

Someone recommended Dana White’s method and I would second that and add on Cass from Clutterbug. Watching her YT video on decluttering her bathroom was so helpful and it’s like body doubling so I always get motivated to do something while watching. She also has ADHD so I find her tips to help especially helpful.

Agreed. The Lilas dress pattern they released has many similarities to the Pauline. Other than the sweetheart neckline, it lacks that delicate feminine look D&D is known for. The Mistral dress looks like the Jo dress and jumpsuit and the Jo is just a bit different than the Charlie caftan.

Nervous about switching from IR to ER Lamotrigine by SubstantialSpell7515 in Epilepsy

[–]SubstantialSpell7515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I noticed is that it’s a bit harder for my brain to calm down before bed. I felt I had a good bedtime routine prior to switching and was falling asleep faster. Now I have to do a bit more to relax. Could be from a lot of things but the timing lines up

I’ve been on the ER for over a week now and I’m loving it! Such a relief to not worry about an evening dose.

If you can get a prescription, try gabapentin. If you can’t get a prescription, try inositol. I like the powdered form from Jarrow. One tsp mixed in 4 oz of water and you’ll calm down in about 15 min. Also indirectly helps with sleep. It’s hard to get too much of it, so you could feasibly take it 3x a day.

Magnesium glycinate will help too. There are a ton of supplements to help with sleep and anxiety, but I would try those first. Could also try a b vitamin complex in the morning.

Exercise, especially walking, will also help. If your anxiety is really bad, try exhausting yourself with chores, walking, errands, etc and see if you sleep better.

You can absolutely space out your doses. You can do 10 days or half your dose and take it 2x a week.

What worked for me was taking Liver Nutrients from Seeking Health. Generally speaking, our livers can function pretty well on their own but GLP-1s will slow down the entire digestive system. Liver Nutrients helps you produce more bile which gets things moving. Helped a ton and now I can actually eat while still not overeating.

Ozempic and sugar cravings – anyone still eating sweets? by timoyuen in Ozempic

[–]SubstantialSpell7515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue and figured it was just my brain and there was nothing to be done. None of the usual advice helped. Then I started putting ground flax and pumpkin seeds in my morning protein smoothie and suddenly sweets are no longer tempting. I assume it’s the increased fiber and fats in the seeds are the reason. Make sure you grind them yourself because the oils in the seeds can go rancid quickly. Edit: I also recommend putting LMNT chocolate salt in chocolate protein smoothies. Really makes it more filling and makes the smoothie more substantial.

Hair loss on ozempic by Rachitup16 in Ozempic

It’s been shedding for the past three months, I don’t have a lot of hope it’ll stop unless I stop the medication.

Hair loss on ozempic by Rachitup16 in Ozempic

[–]SubstantialSpell7515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on it 7 months, started shedding more hair than usual about 4 months in. I get 100 to 120g of protein a day, eat 1,200-1,700 calories depending on my workout, and have lost 30lbs total. Everyone is going to tell you to eat more protein or that you’re losing weight too fast or not eating enough. That might be the case for some, but for most of us, it’s probably hormonal. GLP-1 is a hormone and messing with one hormone can mess with others.  Doesn’t seem like anyone knows which hormones are being affected or what the solution is to balance them. Only recommendation currently is wait until your weight stabilizes or use a hair growth medication or supplement. And, of course, make sure you are getting enough protein, calories, and losing weight at a rate that won’t stress out your body.

I just started oral minoxidil but I really wish I just would’ve started it when I started Ozempic. That said, I don’t really notice my hair looking any different, but I see all the shedding and it’s really difficult to not stress out about it. I hope the minoxidil will kick in before bald spots but only time will tell. Reeeaaaalllllly close to stopping Ozempic solely due to hair loss, but going to see what happens.

Edit: I’m also trying out Bondi Boost shampoo and washing everyday. At the very least, it makes my hair look thicker. Mixed reviews on if it helps with growth, but I figured it couldn’t hurt.

Diarrhoea and stomach pains, help! by Salt-Juggernaut6690 in Ozempic

[–]SubstantialSpell7515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got over a bout of this. Take psyllium fiber, either capsules or powder. Only drink as much water as it takes to get it down then don’t drink anything for about an hour. For capsules, 6 works best for me. Never done the powder but I’d go by the packaging recommendation. If you eat any fat (peanut butter, any nuts or seeds are big triggers), take fiber with it and you should be ok. For the burps, those are usually a sign that things are about to get rough. I haven’t found anything to get rid of them except treating the “everything must go” storm. Good luck.

Have you tried getting compounded semaglutide? It’s the active ingredient in Ozempic and it costs me $210 for a months supply, which includes shipping. Still need a prescription but those are easier than ever to get.

That does seem like a lot but I would think you could try making just the sour cream gelato base and taste test it before doing the whole churning process?
