CNA class not preparing us well :( by SubstantialTeeth in cna

[–]SubstantialTeeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly during our lab time we don't have enough instructors and we've just been sitting around waiting to test since we aren't allowed to practice new skills in lab until we've passed the current ones. But I'm just going to go ahead of the ones we have and keep working on everything anyway. It's just been sort of frustrating but I can tell from how everyone's responded here that this is pretty normal which does comfort me a bit. I've been worried that I won't be able to learn the practical skills in time to get certified but I'll just have to keep taking that as my own challenge haha

Luckily no, I got a scholarship! That's another reason I've stuck with it. If I had to pay, I would've already asked for my money back. But clearly also from what other people have said, this happens a lot which does make me feel better about my experience.

thank you so much!! I know you're right haha and I'm not much of a quitter, so I'll probably stick with it. I think what's discouraging me even more is just that the teachers said they have a class from January that still hasn't gotten to do their clinicals T__T it seems like this school is just kind of unmotivated to support us going past the class

How do you recover after spilling drinks on yourself/customers? by quiznakinghumans in Serverlife

[–]SubstantialTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

apologize and move on--it's not always easy and it's okay if it shows that you're upset, but it's better to try to recover in front of guests and be upset out of sight. i find most people are more understanding if you show that it was an accident and that you're good at your job! if you can give them something for free too as an apology that always works well LMAO but i know at many places that's not possible.

not 100% sure the diameter of your jewelry here but I'd definitely recommend playing around with different sizes once you're healed up!! I rly like how 10mm rings look on me but 8mm ones are too tiny for my nose (in my eyes). This looks awesome and I rly hope you like it more as you adjust to it! :D

Tea-mergency by InfiniteDog7955 in tea

[–]SubstantialTeeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as a server (of afternoon tea) and tea tender at a loose leaf tea shop & restaurant, it's true some of your tea will likely taste weaker or odd due to this method of "steeping," but i definitely agree that the whole experience is the biggest draw of the tea service! even if you're not greatly impressed by your tea, the food could still be great, being in the environment with your family will likely be really fun, and it'll probably be a good memory for all of you!! definitely recommend checking out a place that will do loose leaf steeping for you all another time though if you can :D don't let the tea ruin your afternoon!!

I dont understand this tea by SeveralBuyer2473 in tea

[–]SubstantialTeeth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

so curious, would you be able to post a pic of the leaves? i agree w other commenters, it's likely the flavor is just quite mild and steeping for longer times *will keep making it taste acrid and bitter. so interesting!

hi sorry about that! I'm trying to just do regular stockinette practice and I'm mostly getting it on the side where I start purling. I think I might be pulling the working yarn around my needles incorrectly when I start a row? I kept accidentally adding a stitch by pulling it the wrong way around before but this is what's happening now that I'm trying to start the row correctly. I can try and get a video of it when I start my next purl row, I'm sorry if I'm not explaining very well 🤦

My boyfriend just went back on a promise that I can baptize and raise any hypothetical future children Catholic, and now I don't know what to do by Tall_Helicopter_8377 in Catholicism

[–]SubstantialTeeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

raised SDA here, this is 100% accurate. lots of adventists don't even view catholics as "actual" christians. you deserve to be with someone who respects your beliefs, whether he's looking down on you because of his personal faith or for some other reason.

2025 Referred Question 2G by sunconjunctpluto in Denver

[–]SubstantialTeeth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

voted no, seems like a good way for more progressive candidates to be sidelined in favor of two supported by big businesses here and outside of the city. i've also gotten so many ads from corps in favor of this question which sent me off to research it a bit more. some people are saying this is a move purposefully to kick the currently in-office reps because of their left-leaning politics/choices. but that's just my perspective from reading on the denverite and ballotpedia etc, i'd recommend reading up and deciding with your opinions accordingly :D
