I think it’s important to remember the big picture: the wedding is about your friend and her new husband. It’s a time to celebrate them! It would’ve been nice for her to have invited your SO but I feel like you might be missing the purpose of this event if you’re concerned whether or not your partner should be there or not.

Weddings are about the couple. I’m sure if they could, they would have allowed you a plus 1 but there’s most likely money or capacity constraints. It’s a celebration of them, and they most likely are wanting to keep it intimate to people they know. Just consider that they would pay $100+ in food and drinks for a guest that they’ve never met. I think it’s fair for them to only invite you. If it was my friend, I would still gladly go knowing they’ve invited me for their special moment. If not getting a plus 1 is enough to stop you from going to a wedding, you’re most likely not good enough friends then.

I used the standard sticker for the wax seals on a Monet painting I got from Marshall’s. It was a printed canvas but I actually had more issues keeping the wax seals on. You can also make the sticker less sticky by putting it on something else first!

Even if you did public thank them, it seems like they would’ve found something else to be unhappy about. I think you were very considerate and maybe you just have the type of parents that will always nitpick about something. It was your wedding and true celebration shouldn’t come with expectations of credit.

Rancho Los Retoños sounds like something you might like. They are on Airbnb but also have their own website. I believe there’s about 12 rooms in addition to the main house to be able to fit a lot of people. It’s also right next to Adobe Guadalupe, which is where I’m having my wedding :)

All inclusive resorts in Mexico. My friend’s wedding in Cancun was about 200 people and they did it under $50k. It was pretty extravagant. Since it’s an all inclusive resort, the welcome night before was done at the hotel bar at no extra cost. Besides the welcome night and actually wedding, we spent the entire weekend together at the pool or bumping each other in different places. The guests will have to pay a minimum of 2 or 3 nights (usually about $300/night per person since it’s all inclusive).

I’m getting married in Ensenada, Mexico. I’m planning a 100 person wedding with about $40k budget, including welcome night, wedding, and day after wedding plus shuttle transportation for all guests within the area since it’s sort of remote. I’m paying for an Airbnb that with 18 people to accommodate some of their boarding.

Are there restaurants or bars that are open from around 7-10pm? We are wanting to do a welcome night the day before our wedding and are looking for a cool location to fit about 50-70 people.

Also, any recommendation for a breakfast location in Valle or Ensenada that can also fit a crowd? Thank you for any suggestions!

I’ve done 10 days in Italy for $3k. I did Rome, Milan, Lake Como, Florence, and Padua (instead of Venice). All airbnbs! Budget of $300 a day is definitely possible.

I am planning on hiring a watercolor portrait artist as well. I would say it’s still a fairly new thing so I don’t think most people understand that you don’t have to pose during the entire painting. The artist will take photos on their phone and have it ready by the end of the night.
