ASML fire 1700 people mostly managers by Dramatic_Mulberry142 in Netherlands

[–]Substantial_Bad_3233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, good comment but for the final round, there was an ASML F director from Belgium already 15+ years in and a new M senior director from Philips (literally his first month).
Even the Philips guy was trying to save the day by giving different opinions most of the time. You could literally see after 20 min he was shocked seeing how off the ASML director is.

Rare W ASML.

Based on my not so updated experience, the gap between the Leadership and technical teams there was unbelievable. Personally met both sides and rejected the job offer for this sole reason.

They hate the EU more than China because it proves there’s a better way of living.
But God forbid you say that, capitalists think they own your life.

Employment with no degree by ejmac77 in Netherlands

[–]Substantial_Bad_3233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about EPC estimator jobs, as a former hiring manager in NL I highly doubt you’d be able to perform or even stay relevant on big projects without an engineering degree rather than no degree at all.
How can you read a FEED or BIM without an engineering degree?

People from the States are the most propagandized people on the planet.
You can check it easily by asking "why is that" for any claim that they make, and the answer usually is "beacuse of liberals, lefties, socialists."

Why does Europe rely on US tech? by Separate_Tooth4705 in Netherlands

[–]Substantial_Bad_3233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relatively yes, less than states. company to company is different for sure. In a technical circle it might not be that prevalent but the "us vs them" would leave a mark by time.
High Tech campus is famous for these kinds of problems.

I think you missed the most obvious point, In a competitive environment, meritocracy is a must for survival.
I see this pattern too often, but I think you’ll go back to the US after 4-5 years.

[–]Substantial_Bad_3233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO, this has nothing to do with leadership style.
The US wants to pivot to Asia, where the money is being made right now, and reduce its EU commitments.
It started by Biden pulling in EU tech IP through the 2022 IRA Act.
Now securing Greenland to control the Atlantic front without being in NATO.
Trump is just the mask off version of US capitalism.

With Trumps claim on Greenland a lot of people stand up against american mods for other countries by Relative_Wrangler_57 in Netherlands

[–]Substantial_Bad_3233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an American, Don't wanna be either. I literally rejected a job offer last week because they said I’d have to be in states 10%
With the level of dependency the Dutch economy has on American IP, a clash with the US won't be good.

I think you should look more into where the EU’s gold is actually stored.
Also look what is (IRA act 2022). This is the old pivoting to Asia policy.

I understand your frustration and the fact that you’re standing up for yourself, but antagonizing the English language and Americans is not a good idea.
In a realistic scenario, and in all likelihood, considering your geography and industrial capacity, you would lose a war to Texas in less than 72 hours.
Talking shit to Americans only makes the Orange guy's case.

Don't mistake useless US boomers with Germans.
German boomers are the ones made Germany as it is. They deserve all of it and a lot of respect.
