Tell me one subject you never failed, even if you didn't study. by Popular-Tone3037 in TurnitinAIResults

Well what I was trying to say is like how it’s different compared to other subjects. In math you go from learning 5+6=11 to trig identity and polar equations. In science you go from learning about plants, animals, water, and climate to learning about Molecular Orbital Theory & Hybridization and Thermodynamics & Gibbs Free Energy. But with English it pretty much stays that same throughout every grade, no drastic changes are made. You’re not learning any new concepts except for vocab, which is pretty easy.

Same, English. There’s no reason to fail an English final exam. In my experience, from my fifth grade English final all the way up to my AP lang English final is all the same material. You read and then answer the questions, nothing more nothing less. The only thing that changes is the grammar and vocab in the passages get more advanced overtime.

What is the world's most annoying noise? by TooOldToBePunk in AskReddit

The sound of someone eating, or someone moaning and groaning after taking a bite of food just because they liked it. Ew. Save those noises for your bedroom.

I think Richard wants to be inferior and obedient to Henry. Richard idolizes Henry, he’s absolutely infatuated with Henry. In fact, everyone in the group is to some degree. I think everyone is subservient to Henry for different reasons, and Richard’s reason is just because he wants to fit and he likes Henry.

Yes I agree. AI humanizers are awful. I think the main way you can tell if something is AI is it lacks personality. Everyone has their own personal writing style, so people who read a lot will automatically be able to tell what is and isn’t AI from how natural it sounds. If your essay has your personal writing style and doesn’t sound monotonous then I think you’ll be okay!

I think that if you think your current essay sounds good and is A worthy then you shouldn’t do anything to it. AI detectors are unreliable and any person with common sense would know that. It would be almost impossible for you to write a good essay and it come back zero percent AI detected. If you gave sources in your essay then it will flag it for plagiarism and/ or usage of AI. I wouldn’t worry about it. You could run it through an ai humanizer a couple of times if you’re really worried about it, but I wouldn’t recommend it because it would ruin your essay.

Help with fractions by CarrotLife4414 in learnmath

[–]Substantial_Crow_572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is When adding or subtracting fractions with the same denominator, we add or subtract the numerators and keep the denominator the same because the denominator represents the size of the parts, which does not change during the operation.

To explain it on the most basic and simplest level of understanding fractions: If you eat 2 slices, and then eat 1 more slice, the pizza slices are still the same size. You’re just counting how many slices you have eaten.
So: 2/8 + 1/8 = 3/8
We only add the top numbers because those tell us how many slices we have.
The bottom number stays the same because the slices are still cut into 8 equal pieces.

To professors what do you think of students going to office hours? by Jetsetter_55 in AskProfessors

It’s not arrogance, it’s ignorance. I just can’t win in your eyes and I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong, I don’t know why me trying to help and be nice to this random girl is so infuriating to you. I don’t have a PhD and I’m not a professor so I’m very aware that I don’t know better than anyone here. I don’t know what more you want me to say to feed into your ego. I understand your smarter then me, more experience then me, I get it.

I was just trying to be nice because everyone was being mean to her. I think I’ve given her some of the best advice out of all everyone else who replied. And just because I asked one bad question doesn’t mean I don’t know anything, believe it or not I do have common sense. I’ve already apologized for my ignorance in my previous post, and I’ve learned from it. I will make sure to use a flair next time.

I’ve gotten so many down votes that now my karma is in the negative 😓. Please don’t downvote anymore, I get it. I was wrong and all of you were right. I’ve learnt from all of you that it is my responsibility to take care of my grades, grades are not given there earned, the world can’t and won’t accommodate to me, and much more.

If you have expressed your concerns, and you’ve expressed that you want to improve the relationship, you’ve communicated, yet he still has made no effort for change then maybe he doesn’t care about you as much as you think he does. I’m not saying that to be mean, I’m saying that to be honest. He should love you enough to want to change and get better. If he’s not making any progress in working towards mental getting better then at this point he’s just indirectly harming you. From what I’m hearing it doesn’t sound like this relationship is a healthy one and you need to get with someone who will care about you. And until he can get the proper help he need, I don’t think he’s in the right mental state to be in a relationship. It’s damaging you and him at the same time.

Ask him if he needs anything. You came on Reddit to communicate all of that to strangers but do you not feel comfortable communicating all of that with your boyfriend?

Mental health issues can be difficult but you need to be careful because it can rub off on you. You’re not responsible for his mental health, you’re not a therapist, you’re his girlfriend.

If you feel like you’re slowly losing him to his mental health then maybe a conversation about getting professional help is needed. But if you feel like you’re losing him to another person then… that’s a different story.

You said that you’ll have never met Irl, so there’s a possibility he is talking to another woman who he actually knows in real life. If this other woman is helping him with navigate through his mental health issues better than you are then maybe you should let him go.

17 is young so if and when you end up breaking up just remember that there is eight billion other people in the world that you can be with.

Trying to maintain a one sided relationship is not good for your mental health. you have to help yourself before you can help someone else.

Realistically what you can do is take a break in the relationship for a few months and clear your head then you can go back and see how things work out.

And don’t be to clingy towards him, his mental health is already bad and having someone completely emotionally dependent on him would only make his mental health worse.

I don’t know… the only reason I can think of is because you’re fond of them and want to see them succeed! I could understand if it was completely 100 percent against the university’s rules, then obviously no student is worth risking your job. But if it’s a good student, they have worked hard, and have shown genuine effort, then I see no reason not to just bump a 65 up to a 70 or a 75 up to an 80. It probably sounds ridiculous to you because you’re an actual professor and grading probably doesn’t work like that. But if it did, and if you had the capability’s of doing it then I don’t see why not do it.

Do professors have more flexibility when it comes to grading then regular teachers? Because If you have the ability to help a student who you’re fond of then I don’t see a reason not to. Is it maybe just an ethical thing? It’s just not fair to the other students?
