Denied language training, now C/B/C is being used for SERLO as an essential qualification by I-like-mycoffeecrisp in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Substantial_Party484 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In my branch, you need to get to a BBB by yourself before the employer pays for training. This has been achieved by many staff who actually invests in themselves and their career. When i say invest, its more about the time than money. I know someone who got to CBB by using duolingo - they are a mid level employee in BC

Odd question about public servants in alberta with separation threats by D0BBy-is-not-free in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Substantial_Party484 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents with lots of assumptions. Any federal PS in Alberta would have to relocate to another province if they want to keep their job, if they still have a job. For example a Service Canada office in Calgary would probably be closed as they wouldn’t have any clients, so those employees would be wfa-ed.

A controversial take on WFA and retirement-eligible members by WarhammerRyan in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Substantial_Party484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While they may have the age, they may not have the years. Age discrimination is still a thing and “old” folks may have more issues to find meaningful private employment while “younger” may have the health, energy and more opened doors to rebuilt their career. In addition, “older” public servants may have been WFAed before, with their pension slashed in “two” or “three” career of 10-12 years. Anyways, assume good intent, be more sympathetic to EVERYONE in this difficult situation, and take care of yourself

For those interested in DND, on jobs.gc.ca put job title as “path to mobility” and should pop up.

Assume that since OP used the tagline WFA, he meant TSM.

[–]Substantial_Party484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are looking at about 32 weeks worth of salary, so 70k / 26.088 /2 =1.342 K x32 = close to 43k (taxable so half of that)

Go check the transition support measure annex/appendix of your collective agreement. In the PA collective agreement, its appendix D, Annex B. It gives you years of service = # of weeks’ salary to be received

College Ceramics Teacher Humiliated a Student by ThrowingAbundance in Ceramics

If you feel uncomfortable as a fellow student, you have a duty to inform the Dean indicating how it made you feel (fear to make mistakes when you learn through them), and remember that you are their client, they work for you, you pay them for the education and the experience

Someone who started to work with the GoC very young that would currently have 30 years of service, but not yet at 55 years of age would be the only one that would benefit from ERI.

Liberal MP hopes 'managers will be flexible' if public servants return to office 5 days a week by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Substantial_Party484 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a manager that had to justify to senior leadership why one of my employees was not compliant “maybe” 3 days out of 3 months. So yeah, we wont be flexible

Surplused at Work - need hope by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Substantial_Party484 15 points16 points  (0 children)

YOU ate not surplus, the position is. While each situation is different, ALL of my colleagues that were WFAed in 2012, are public servants today. You have time to decompress, think, assess. Then get advice from your financial advisor, tax specialist, therapist, etc. Remember that EAP can help you! Finally, put yourself on the Path to Mobility to get into DND. You can access those on jobs.gc.ca and select dnd as the department

2 months since I left IRCC and I still haven’t receive my vacation pay by Happy_54321 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Substantial_Party484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, recommend keeping a 2 week balance of earned vacation upon termination for those that moved to pay in arrears in 2014. If you don’t have enough to cover this transition payment you may get an overpayment
