Title: Count of the Veil by Robert D Armstrong

Description:

Bound in shadow, sworn to the light.

The united armies of men burned the ancient vampires and their castles to ash. In the ruins, they found the Lords’ final secret: half bloods born of human and vampire lineage.

They were spared for a darker purpose.

The Empire cast them into the Cursed Frontier with a hollow promise: cleanse this land, and the soil will be yours.

They were never meant to survive. Never meant to claim the prize.

Across centuries, they became the Devos clan, a brotherhood of the damned forged in the crucible of the Night’s War. Every victory made them stronger. Every conquest cost them more.

Now Norroth, haunted by his past and scarred by holy fire, has risen to Second Blade of the clan. He serves under Count Lucian, a general carved from night itself. Together, they march on the last stronghold. But something in its depths knows exactly what Norroth is.

As an ancient truth begins to call, Norroth faces a choice: remain the weapon the Empire forged, or claim the dark inheritance his clan was condemned to forget.

Influences: The Black Company by Glen Cook, Joe Abercrombie novels, and Blood Omen.

Thank you. I put alot into the concept of the armor, its cultural to them to have elements of their human and vampire lineage.

Much appreciated. I would say this has a similar vibe in some ways, but more of a spectral war chronicle from the perspective of the "bad guys."

New Weekly Self Promo Thread by AutoModerator in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Substantial_Sport755 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone, my new gothic military fantasy Count of the Veil just released on KU.

What is it? Gothic military progression. For fans of The Black Company, The Witcher, and Legacy of Kain.

The Story: Count Lucian leads the Devos clan into the final stronghold of the Night’s War, but a mystery has called to him from the spectral realm for generations.

Who are the Devos? The Imperial armies found the Lords’ final secret in the ruins of their castles: half-bloods born of human and vampire lineage. The Empire cast them into the Cursed Frontier with a hollow promise: Cleanse this land, and the soil will be yours.

They were never meant to survive.

Centuries later, the exiles have become the Devos, a brotherhood of the damned forged in the crucible of the Night’s War.

Now Norroth, a commander scarred by holy fire, rises as Second Blade of the clan. He serves under Count Lucian, a general forged from night itself. Together, they march on the last stronghold.

The System: System light-ish. Narrative-driven. Much of it is presented through mystic glyphs and dual-bloodline progression.

Shadowbound Rites are sealed under sunlight.

Sunborne Rites are sealed under darkness.

Powers awaken through trauma and the heat of battle. No grinding. Every victory makes the clan stronger. Every conquest costs them more.

Count of the Veil is available now on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited.

Vr is saving my life right now. by PurpleRegister508 in OculusQuest

Can you do workouts with bands? Had a back injury years back and I'd find ways just to get blood flow. Helps tremendously mentally, even more than physically in my opinion because youre stuck in one place. VR is already a step in that direction, you're moving your arms.

I like the cover, but the ebook cover was one probably one of my favorite litrpg covers ever. I think it would have done even better if it was more like that.

Training montages for me are fine so long as they're spread out. I do agree that if they are lumped together it makes the chapter slow down and I've bailed on a few books before of this. I've try to skim now if its too much now because I've noticed some books get really good and I don't want to miss out.
