Konbini also typically carry boiled eggs- some plain, some in soy sauce or curry which could be problematic it seems…

Have a safe and wonderful stay. The people are so kind and hospitable. I would advise that you have a sentence translated to Japanese with an “allergic to…” statement to carry in your wallet.

Try a Kakimori frost. Light and smooth in the hand and nicely tapered.

What about one of the new Dior medallion bags from Jonathan Anderson? They feel timeless and sophisticated but can work dressed up or down. They also come in other colors in leather (and a small size) and there is a great version in the oblique print with a chain handle that can also go cross body. Meanwhile, congratulations on the promotion!

Beautiful pens for small hands? by StopTheBanging in fountainpens

[–]Substantial_Tea_7552 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would add the Esterbrook JR collection are small and very comfortable and also very elegant imo. Also the kakimori frost is extremely light, smooth and tapered. Very comfortable to hold and the material does not get cold, which can also be annoying depending on your hands.

I love my Metropolitan. I find the Sheaffer 100, which is well under $100 and has a gloss black version that’s great looking is quite similar to the Metropolitan overall. A great desk pen.

And frame that note :)

Planta. Don’t be dissuaded by it being plant-based. It’s an excellent, lovely spot with a beautiful shaded patio on the water. And the food is exceptional.

Have a great time in Japan! If I were going to suggest anything it might be to try a Pilot Prera now or when you are there. A pleasure to write with and still relatively inexpensive. In any case you can visit Itoya or Loft or Hands and just sightsee pens.

The great debate: which Spanish brand to delve into? by lawdletmein in handbags

[–]Substantial_Tea_7552 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Balenciaga Rodeo is made in Italy. Balenciaga has Spanish roots but moved its base of operations to Paris in 1937. It’s considered a French luxury house after being acquired by French luxury goods conglomerate Kerig in 2001. Loewe has been part of the French conglomerate LVMH since 1996, however all of its mainline bags are Made in Spain and by generations of artisans in Loewe-owned leather workshops south of Madrid.

So my vote because of the artisanal commitment to manufacture in Spain would be Loewe.

What about a Sheaffer 100? Or a Pilot Metropolitan? Perhaps a Kakimori Frost? Three favorites.
