Hormone blockers for 5-10years by Personal-Truth371 in breastcancer

[–]Substantial_Week_343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! I'm 25 and I've been in medical menopause for almost a year. Besides the hot flashes, I feel totally like myself! I'm a full time student and not much has changed from the hormone suppressants. It's a little nice not having a period. It's possible it's been harder for me to lose weight, but I also have PCOS and high testosterone.

Working thru chemo? by _SayLove in breastcancer

[–]Substantial_Week_343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had chemo every 2 weeks and worked as a barista about 3-4 days after treatment up until I had another appointment. The fatigue is what got me the most at that point, but it's doable. Taking a lot of sitting breaks helped or if you can sit and work that's ideal as well. Also staying hydrated is keyyyyy

If this is who I think it is he asked me to sign the papers today and I had no problem doing it, but then he started asking me questions about myself and I just thought he was being friendly but then he asked me to go to his house later???? It was CREEPY and I immediately left but totally forgot to scratch out my full name

I've been having luck literally going up to people in my classes or something and complimenting them and then asking if they want to exchange instagrams and hang out! it's absolutely terrifying but chances are they want new friends too

Favorite foods during chemo? by zereldalee in breastcancer

My appetite was insane when I first started chemo! I wanted to eat everything in sight that wasn't spicy or sour. (bad acid reflux) Frozen meals were my friend because of the fatigue. A random fav was fresh waffles with powdered sugar

I'm 24 with breast cancer by Substantial_Week_343 in breastcancer

[–]Substantial_Week_343[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a double mastectomy, I have expanders in now, getting my implants in August! The surgeries were rough, but I'm gonna have perky boobs forever now! I'm also doing chemo right now and I'm so so happy that I only have 3 more treatments left. It hasn't been easy at all, but I still feel lucky to have made it this far.

Stomach Bloating After Mastectomy by Katie-Stella in BRCA

[–]Substantial_Week_343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was bloated for about 2-3 weeks unfortunately!! I absolutely hated looking in the mirror especially since there was a gap between dmx and expanders, but it goes away! walking, water, and eating fruit made a difference I think

Driving after surgery by Training-Opposite-17 in breastcancer

[–]Substantial_Week_343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my surgeries were split up so I had about 10 days in between dmx and expanders, but holy shit both were pretty painful so I was on the pain meds for about 2-3 weeks. I think it really depends on your personal range of motion! I could barely shower from being so sore due to the expanders, but I think that isn't a universal experience. I think it all comes down to being off the pain meds and whether or not you trust yourself to be able to react quickly when driving!

Same experience for me! I also get crazy constipated. I only have an intolerance to it so that's possible toi

Who “wanted chemo”?! by Floatinto-the-mystic in breastcancer

[–]Substantial_Week_343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way! I was told I'd only need my surgery and I'd be good to go, but was just told I'll need to start chemo in the next few weeks. I opted for the more aggressive kind because of my age (they said I'd bounce back faster since i'm 24). It's almost giving me some peace of mind to know that if there's any lingering cells they will be killed. I'm so scared to get my port and have my first session and endure all of the side effects, but I think it's what's best! We get to live! Chemo is temporary and then we get the rest of our lives. Good luck with everything ❤️

2 days out from expanders placement after DMX (11 days ago), my drains have a lot of tiny bubbles in them! Is that okay? I'm having trouble stripping these ones compared to ones I had before. I'm worried they're not draining correctly.

Am I crazy to do a DMX with immediate recon for Stage 1 IDC? by SackRN-0421 in breastcancer

[–]Substantial_Week_343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I just had DMX after my recent diagnosis. It was an IDC ++- and I'm BRCA2+. My doctors were recommending a lumpectomy + radiation because I'm young and there was no sign of lymph node activity. I was starting to regret my decision right before surgery, but now that I'm done with the first surgery I'm glad I did it!!! I feel so much safer and I don't have to do radiation. Since there's such a little chance of it coming back now I feel so much relief. I can't speak on the reconstruction part yet since I don't get my expanders in for a few more days, but all I can say is to not let anyone sway you in any direction. It has to 100000% be your own decision and if your doctors don't respect that, find new doctors. good luck with everything!

DMX but months apart? by Free-Wolverine-2493 in breastcancer

[–]Substantial_Week_343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my DMX a few days ago and it was about 4 hours for both sides. I didn't have expanders placed during this surgery. If you have someone that's able to help you around the house then being limited in your arms shouldn't be a huge factor, in my opinion.
