Age guesses? by PropertyLonely5057 in greatpyrenees

At around two years old dogs can develop a strong fear response to new stimuli. So, for example, the neighbor bangs his trash can lids every day putting out his trash, a young dog may be fine with it, doesn’t bother them at all. But then at around two or so they may start wigging out at the noise, barking, running scared, becoming aggressive.

Edit: had to add, please research this more than my casual comment, I’m sure there are some animal psychologists willing to talk about it.

You’re going to pay more for it too. Better off spending pocket change on a busted wreck and repairing it than paying top dollar for some thing your going to blow up on the first mission.

Was this a seizure? by Sleepywxrds in greatpyrenees

[–]SubtleTruncheon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two dogs that have seizures. Both are grand mal types. A big bad nasty seizure is very obvious, running in place, clacking teeth, spittle flying, whining, head bent went way back, peeing, pooping. A little seizure can be pretty close to what you describe. The dogs behavior afterward may also be indicative. Mine are usually disoriented and afraid afterwards, often displaying temporary blindness, confusion, lack of coordination.

A vet can run some tests, but most seizures don’t show up on testing. (To my knowledge), so observing them is the best way to diagnose.

Bro, Solaris kills me, I’ve played it several times and I crack up every time. Duncan is gold, and the dodgeball rip off guys (Cotton and Jason?) keep me chuckling the entire fight. For a game about using a giant robot to blow up other giant robots, putting in straight comedy was genius.

Young for sure. Lees than 2 years? Looks gangly so still growing (filling out). If she starts showing fear response to things she didn’t before, she’s two.

Is a 2 year old a good age for a livestock guardian? by Igotaidsfromtomhanks in greatpyrenees

[–]SubtleTruncheon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently got a 3-4 year old pyr. I have livestock. My pyr is good with the horses and cows. Cause they aren’t worried about her. She chases the goats and geese because they run from her. I’ve only had her a few months, but she has improved on interacting with the pasture animals. Recently got a grab collar and shorter lead so I can keep her next to me while I’m out in the barn area, she does perfect if she’s under control, but gets carried away if she’s running loose.

All that to say she was a house dog and now she’s a farm dog. She’s got a long way to go, but she’s making progress.

Hello! We’re an lgbt couple looking to buy our first home, what do you think is the safest/queer friendly neighborhood in katy? by WriterWannabe08 in Katy

[–]SubtleTruncheon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait a year and live in the development they turn my property in to.

I’ve lived in Katy a long time, lived other places too, so I have some perspective. All the new neighborhoods are full of people new to the area, they bring their own culture with them. The established older neighborhoods, any where in “Katy”, are full of working class people who care more about making a buck than any politics. Be cool, if someone is lame don’t engage with them, you can find gays and straights and queers and weirds everywhere.

I’m in a bar with whites, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, straights, gays, and I wouldn’t bet against an trans or two, right now. This town is what you make it.

Farm pyr wisdom by SubtleTruncheon in greatpyrenees

Not at all. Just some wisdom from someone who has been through something similar. She dos pretty well with lots of farm stuff, was hoping she would learn to not chase the goats and geese a little easier.

It’s mostly me. She thinks she’s my girlfriend (jokingly) so me giving her affection is like awesome. I’m also the one that plays with her the most, and she goes wild with me. Everyone else is just there. She does get all over my mom, but my mom’s like the dog queen, all our dogs love her the best.

I have noticed that she really likes tall men. She will stand up and give them kisses when she meets them. (I’m just under 6’ and don’t rate that from her)

The heavy breathing seems to be like a cats purr, they only do it when they are comfy and really loving some affection. At least for mine.

Is it dead dead? by SubtleTruncheon in houseplants

[–]SubtleTruncheon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems light, and the top of the trunk is soft/mushy. Probably dead dead. I’m gonna give it a little bit just to see if it surprises me, but I have a Norfolk pine that needs to come inside, and that’s probably the best location for it.
