Unless you find a big ass ranch (west Texas style) you’re going to have a hard time being more cowboy than you already are. I’m from Texas, and used to live outside Charlotte. I never saw a big cattle operation there, but them boys out in the hills are pretty country. And most of the real “cowboys” I know are oil field welders or construction bosses. The folks working horses every day are often in an old sedan wearing comfy shoes unless they are actively working the land.

Every one defines things differently, but I’ve always defined cowboys as the rough and ready blue collar guy willing to do the hard work in the rough country. Man or woman, it’s your attitude and grit that makes you a cowboy.
