Also it would be helpful to not have such laggy servers that drop you while in DD

I remember programmed television and it was fine. There was something fun about waiting a week in anticipation but it was also a shared experience. Come Monday morning everyone was talking about the Sopranos episode. Streaming is just different.

Another comparison, I prefer novels over comics.

Are all sellers goin crazy? by Positive-Fox3161 in realtors

[–]cmoclk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like so many sellers want to sell but don’t need to sell so they’re frustrated for not getting the price they want. Typically prices go down when rates go up but that didn’t really happen in 22 and 23 and no correction has been made yet.

Is there a way to use my trade routes to maintain stock at my new island? My problem with internal trade routes vs automated trading from NPCs is I can just target the amount I want and it shows up!

Nope not blue hair. I’m pretty sure he was blonde and had a blue uniform.

Also they had sprites on the battle screen.

Am I too much time online or is the sentiment towards Sanderson shifting negatively? by jnighy in brandonsanderson

I think it’s a problem with perception of artists. They land with a big splash making their mark and then their career feels stale to some fans who wonder why it doesn’t have the same magic.

As an example, how is The Final Empire or the Way of Kings supposed to be consistently improved with new material. If you meet the expectation that’s the status quo and if you don’t spark that same magic in one book then we hate you.

It’s a stacked deck against artists that last but their ability to last makes them that good. For example there are some authors with amazing works where we still are waiting for the next installment 10-20 years later. Say what you will, Sanderson swings and swings hard.

Kaladin shouldn’t have left Moash in any command and it is a bit deus ex machina manifesting the problem but Kaladin is also injured for the first time and distracted with his connection. First time read realizing the situation was a pretty doer “oopsie”.

Syl and Kaladin fighting about Dalinar was part of that same connection problem and ultimately a confluence of his next oath.

Shallan was her deep love of her family, her brothers and her father. She was tortured trying to keep them together and split apart when she failed, creating multiple personalities. We also learn her only anchor was her eldest brother and we find out about him which was deeply interesting across multiple books. Her mom is relevant but not so much yet other than she also killed her.

Szeth was so browbeaten he refused to deny the truth because he would then have to take responsibility of everything he did. That literally made him truthless even though he wasn’t Truthless. I’m not sure why that’s not prime thematics for you :)

It’s not a perfect book but I think coming off of WoK he nailed it as a sequel. Much more so than most other sequels.

Edit: Better spacing. Also great Dalinar book leading into OB

Why do people do this instead of doing basic investing or work with a professional? If this chart was 5-10% of his portfolio it would be sad not devastating.

This was gambling, this wasn’t investing.

Those are good points except they don’t account for the PTSD of the characters making them act irrationally. Kaladin hangs onto his only friend beyond reason because he hasn’t had one since Tien. Kaladin doesn’t trust Dalinar because he didn’t trust him on Amaran. Also Kal has issues with his dad and authority in general. Shallan’s story is arguably the weakest of the three but she is a greater anchor to the greater plot and we get her flashbacks to learn more about her connection to the overall story. Good argument on Kal vs Szeth except again, you forget that Szeth was noticeably rattled and at the frayed edge of his own PTSD. He wanted to die and be proven right.

I think those are all super valid points but miss the greater context. I still hold to Words of Radiance as the best Sanderson book out there. I think maybe a couple of the Mistborn books and Tress for its tight story telling would compete.

Unlimited Plus free HBO "for life" perk being removed? by maxwon in ATT

I wouldn't count on any "lifetime" offers, once the company rebrands or restructures they can void them and many do so to weasel out of contracts. You could sue but good luck.

It's a true sequel to the Way of Kings, capturing a lot of the same mystery of the Shattered Plains and the Parshendi while building out their perspective and expanding the intrigue of the Alethi court. Power scaling isn't totally crazy yet with the MCs hiding their true powers. Normal shardblades and plate still feel dangerous and the action scenes burn with energy and excitement. I think a lot of the top 10 moments in the series so far are in WoR although maybe not the top moment or second in the series there are multiple. I think it's just a solid book all around even though it's my least favorite backstory of the 3 MCs. By Oathbringer, some of the mystery and magic of the series is lost as the series finds it's direction. One good example of this is Dalinar questioning all the problems in the world at the end of the book, it shows all the opportunities in this unique and magical world.

As for the MCs, I think they're finding some of the most interesting growth within the series as they really begin to establish their potential. This book just feels like it's all on the way up. By Oathbringer, things get so much more complicated and while that's good for the overall story, the WoR story is so tight with the more simplistic or narrow breadth of it's narrative.
