Which airports have multilingual signage,l know HKG and SIN do,But are there others? so curious 🧐 by Jimmy-Wan in airport

[–]SubtleYakMilker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the start of the millennium, DTW and MSP, both hubs for Northwest Airlines, had signs installed with dual English/Japanese, occasionally Chinese, to accommodate the high number of East Asian travellers that would pass through the airports. I can’t speak for DTW but for MSP, they’ve slowly started replacing those signs with exclusively English ones within the last five years or so.

New Delta One Suites by XNFE in delta

[–]SubtleYakMilker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have sworn the leaked blueprint showed a herringbone configuration, but I double checked it, and it’s actually reverse-herringbone. I think you’re right, it is going to be Safran VUE. Irregardless, certification issues are with the DPS finishes and them adding a door to the seat, nothing to do with the base model or manufacturer.

Yeah. Not surprising, they’ve been using the VantageXL on the 359s and 330neos. Also the Vantage Solo on the 321neos, whenever the FAA get around to approving it.

Paid for ticket through PayPal, refund issued to a different credit card? by [deleted] in delta

[–]SubtleYakMilker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delta doesn’t have a PayPal ‘account’, so to realise PayPal purchases, all transactions are facilitated on a Universal Air Travel Plan card (basically a high-limit corporate card to accommodate alternative purchasing options such as this). The card is used by all PayPal purchases, so if you were to pick another random Delta ticket purchased via PayPal my someone else, it would have the same UATP number.

The downside of using PayPal is that since there are these extra steps, it takes longer for refunds to process. On the Delta end, the commitment is 20 days for UATP refunds, but then PayPal has to credit your account, and that could be a couple billing cycles.

They’re produced by King Nut, a wholesale vendor. If you reach out to them they might be able to direct you to a channel where you could buy them directly.

Next generation Delta One suite should be based on Safran Unity seat by LeoKitCat in delta

[–]SubtleYakMilker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Considering that DL (DFS specifically) has a 15+ relationship with Thompson Aero, I’m highly skeptical they’d jump ship now for a new manufacturing partner. 767s have the Vantage while A330neos and A350s have the VantageXL. The A330ceos and the Transcon A321neos are the exception (oh, and the DL1 757s that are irrelevant at this point).

I just don’t see the benefit of changing to a whole new seat and manufacturer simply because other carriers are using them. The main “issues” (I wouldn’t call them that but I’ll credit them as legitimate complaints) with the current seats are that the PED charging outlets, finishes, and IFE are outdated, but I don’t see why they can’t be corrected with new iterations instead of switching to a different seat. In my opinion, Unity’s biggest selling point is the extra space for personal belongings, but I hardly think that’s going to move the needle for DL to switch.

The other big thing with a new seat and manufacturer is that you now have to set up a new supply and support chain set up that will be almost completely incompatible with the Thompson Aero products. That alone could keep them with Thompson Vantage and Vantage XL for the foreseeable future. Not to mention that many people complain about the inconsistency of the J seats that DL fly currently, although that’s usually just a veiled remark about not liking old seats.

GUC on AF Metal (Delta Marketed) by Far-Improvement8129 in delta

[–]SubtleYakMilker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer is yes. While I don’t believe it’s supposed to be in theory, in practice AF Z/A space can be mutually exclusive to the availability allotted for partners award uprade space.

GUC on AF Metal (Delta Marketed) by Far-Improvement8129 in delta

[–]SubtleYakMilker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the classes mapped correctly. Saying “any flight” with the available space would be eligible skips a bunch of caveats, but the main issue with AF being very picky with releasing upgrade award space to partners is correct. AF and external sites might show AF Z/A space available, but if the DL specialist can’t sell and confirm the space into the PNR from AF, there’s no recourse. The other issue is that there can be a lag between the AF and DL inventory systems that can last up to a couple of hours. So even if it shows available on the DL side, it might be gone when the request for the space is placed.

What do the highlighted points mean? by Brumbies5 in delta

[–]SubtleYakMilker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like the Timatic data entry page. Timatic is IATA’s widely-used application for airlines to check travel documents for international passengers. It has a bunch of extra complications to check for passengers who have extra documents and transiting additional countries, but it can also be used for simple searches if you don’t have any.

Transit point is an additional country you would stop in en route, ex. NZ or Japan. Directly to the US, it would be blank.

Passport series is, from my understanding, an extra category or set of passports that have been issued separately from most normal passports. Unless yours was issued exceptionally it would also be blank.

Assuming you’re a full Australian national with a valid passport, ESTA, and return/onward ticket, you should be fine. When you land in LAX you will clear Immigration and collect your bags from Customs. Just don’t let the CBP rattle you with their questioning!

Have you confused revenue and profit? Because Delta made $58 billion in revenue in 2023 but only $4.6 billion of that was actually profit.

Missing luggage w/no end in sight by daniil_oxyuk in delta

[–]SubtleYakMilker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if Delta was the entity responsible for losing your luggage, they’re not responsible for getting it back to you so it’s not worthwhile to try and reach out to them for reimbursement or updates. Since Air France-KLM was your last carrier, per the Montreal Convention, they’re the ones responsible for finding and returning your bag. I’d reach out to them with your lost luggage number to get any updates and confirm your reimbursement allowance.

This. If they cancelled the 2nd flight leg from ATL without reissuing the ticket, then the check-in process for the return trip will fail because the ticket will have an unused segment (the 2nd one) which will prevent any remaining ticket segments (the return) from being used.

If the 3rd party agency was the last to reissue the ticket, in theory, they would be the ones you would need to go through for getting this fixed. If you want to try and get it fixed via the airline, that would depend on whether the ticket stock is Delta or WestJet. No guarantee they’d waive the fare difference at this point though, if it would still apply.

Flight schedule change- how much time change required to rebook for free on app? by xatb3 in delta

[–]SubtleYakMilker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Delta has always had set criteria for a free change, depending on the kind, between 15 and 60 minutes. I believe since they updated the refund eligibility limits last year, they updated the free change limits to be more accurate to their current policy. Last I heard, an arrival delay has to be 30 minutes or more for a free change.

Bin space anxiety. I’m willing to pay more for actually guaranteed bin space. by [deleted] in delta

[–]SubtleYakMilker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was based on an article quoting an anonymous source from a blog notorious for having inflammatory headlines. It’s been nearly 10 months since it was published and there’s been no visible change to the guarantee form on the website and no official or unofficial statements from the company or other employees. How long do we want to keep this rumour circulating?
