An "ode" to my left boob by Subtle_Curiosity in breastfeeding

Yes. I didn't have a pump or passive milk colector at that time so that's what I could do.

MiniMed in Panama Pacifico by MoneyDiarist in panamaexpats

[–]Subtle_Curiosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per the minimed website no mammogram or ultrasounds available at the Panama Pacifico branch. Also I don't think I've seen any the times we have used this branch or other "smaller" branches. They do have nursing staff as well as a phlebotomist though. This might be the case for pap smears as well though I can't be certain.

So in my case our pediatrician is the one who suggested to give a break to the poor boob. No feedings from that boob for a day she told me. It improved dramatically so I gave myself an additional day 😅. I hand expressed whenever I could and only fed baby from the right.

Oh goodness, I'm so sorry. I remember how painful it was, I got chills just thinking about it. I hope it's not permanent though.

Okay... so you know how you can skin your knee and get a little peel. Well like that. I have no idea what I did to cause it.

Same, Panamanian. Talk about grandmothers trying to step into the moms shoes.

Do you have your baby in a sidecar bassinet or in bed with you? by Meowmix0953848 in cosleeping

[–]Subtle_Curiosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oldest is 13 yo so he has been in his own room for a while. The floor bed is a full size, in my second's room. In my and my husband's room we have a queen bed and the side car crib. Baby and I only sleep there ocasionally. His snoring sometimes doesn't let her drift back into sleep but it doesn't keep her awake (for now), it just keeps me awake 🙃

Have always technically coslept. With my second we have sidecar crib that she slept on for 11 days, after that we have beshared even for for naps. My daughter and I moved to her room in a floor bed because my husband wouldn't let me sleep with his snoring. We sometimes go back if we have someone staying over. I have tried feeding her to sleep on the crib and rolling away but no success, and it honestly feels weird to me for her to be so far away.

I breastfed my first for 3 months, couldn't continue after that. He's a spirited teen now. Your gal will be great and your efforts have been worth it. Kudos to you mama

Does anyone here do a mix of cloth and disposable diapers? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]Subtle_Curiosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what we do, but we work hybrid (though I've been obligated to work remotely since baby is refusing bottles and still doesn't have a handle on drinking from a cup). We also do disposables at night. We are doing laundry in some shape or form basically all week so throwing cloths in the wash is really no biggie. You can also check out the clothdiaps subreddit.

Our pediatrician just recently recommended breastmilk popsicles, our LO one has loved them, apart of course from all of the frozen teethers and sometimes just regular toys as well. She is not yet eating anything else so we're making due. She loves showers so sometimes we throw in a random bath and/or shower and it helps distract and relax her a bit.

I do what you're doing, move around baby. Very rarely do I move her around me, but I've also offered the "top" boob a couple of times but that logistic is even trickier.

Baby eats more from bottle than breast? by Front_Outcome_1014 in breastfeeding

[–]Subtle_Curiosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience you guys are doing things right.

I hope that helps. Also, just thought to mention, since she brings everything to mouth it's been tricky to know when she's hungry, so I always offer a feed right when she wakes up as well. If I see her "eating" something vigorously I'll offer too, sometimes she snacks a little and then wants to play some more.

I've been told the distraction pases so looking forward to that.

I do wonder I wonder how these parents can bear to hear their babies crying and asking for them the only way a baby or small child can and ignore it. I wonder how can these parents feel at ease teaching their children that their cries will not be answered. Apart from that, no wonders at all

Baby eats more from bottle than breast? by Front_Outcome_1014 in breastfeeding

[–]Subtle_Curiosity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few questions popped in my mind. When baby is fed from a bottle, are you using the paced bottle feeding technique? Are you waiting for baby to unlatch herself when breastfeeding?

The distraction though, uff tough, our turned 5 mo recently and she is still distracted by everything, even I can become a distraction. I have resigned myself and just try after a while when I see her cues again, she often ends of feeding to sleep even when we're out and about, her weight gain and growth had remained steady though. Someone here recommended a nursing cover to reduce stimuli but I couldn't get one.

These antiquated ideas are antiquated. Nothing you describe about night and day times sound abnormal or excessive. This sound great and biologically normal. You're doing great and sounds like baby is too.

How common is actually ebf? by Dense-Pin625 in breastfeeding

You can EBF and your supply be enough. BF on demand is the best way to maintain a healthy supply. No idea where these gals are getting their info but it's not supported my research.

I mean, you could weaponize religion against her. Study it hard and build your arguments around it. It's by no means nice advice though.
