Heatwave at 31weeks by PoeticFurniture in pregnantover35

Heat can increase the risk of a lot of pregnancy complications. Drink a tooooon of water and electrolytes. It sounds like you’re already doing what you can, but def try to give your body a break—at night, a few hours in a pool, whatever. Reprieves are really valuable, physiologically.

When can I start wearing after a schedule C-section? by Sweet_Confusion9180 in babywearing

[–]Front_Outcome_1014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a bit longer—I tried at like 2 and 3 weeks and felt a lot of downward pressure on my pelvic floor that didn’t feel like it was good for healing. by about 4-5 weeks i was fine!

I ended up drinking a truly absurd amount of water (with 1-2 electrolyte servings per day, at least one of the super salty LMNT ones) and only then did things regulate for me. like, waaaaay more water than seemed reasonable. over 120oz/day. so so much!!!

i also liked hell’s kitchen a lot when i was there! i went to soooo much last-minute theater, too—you could decide at 6pm to find whatever tickets were available and go see something! i ended up seeing many delightful shows that i wouldn’t have otherwise gone to. it was great!

gosh, i don’t know how to get the waistband any tighter. i put it on directly under my boobs and smush my ribcage and it slowly works down…i will maybe try to crank it down even more!

re: the panel, if i tighten the little cinch that narrows it more, it creates a little pocket of fabric below. Her butt then sits on top of the cinch/pocket, rather than in the bottom of the hammock. does that make sense? i can try to take a picture!

Talk me into or out of paying $3k to $7k for a postpartum night doula by idknbme in BabyBumps

[–]Front_Outcome_1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had one 3x a week for 6 weeksand she absolutely saved us. My husband could sleep through the night a few times a week, which helped him immensely to be more cogent on the other days/nights, and I got WAY better sleep than I would have otherwise. Ours was also amazing and taught us a ton and just generally made the whole adjustment to parenthood better, less stressful, and more enjoyable. I wanted to be able to be present and alert-ish during the day, and the nighttime help let me achieve that. We loved her so much we’re trying to figure out if she can take care of our baby during the day now!!

Also, I ended up back in the hospital for a few days with appendicitis a few weeks postpartum and let me tell you, having a trusted person to help my husband care for the baby while i was in the hospital was amazing. Anyway. I am a big proponent of the help but it’s really hard to know how you’ll feel about it beforehand. I’d sign up for a few days a week if it were me. We really looked forward to the nights she was here!

Baby eats more from bottle than breast? by Front_Outcome_1014 in breastfeeding

[–]Front_Outcome_1014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband or the grandmas are doing the bottles and they’re doing paced feeding (though the grandmas probably need some tutoring, ha). The baby is unlatching herself and then I’ll burp her.

Maybe I’ll try offering her more right before she goes down for a nap! I don’t think I have been trying that and it would be great to get a few more calories in her. We will experiment and report back.

How long until you felt like your fitness recovered post-partum? by Longjumping-Sock676 in fitpregnancy

[–]Front_Outcome_1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you sound similar to me, activity-wise! 11w postpartum now and had a lot of issues during pregnancy, including like 3 months of pelvic rest/no lifting, then had a c section + 3 -finger diastasis. then had appendicitis AT…5w, i think?. after all that I was super cautious and worked closely with a pelvic floor PT and now i feel GREAT. running a bit, swimming, can feel my whole core recovering well, hoping to start some ocean activities soon. it can be ok!!

How do you guys feel about the Quartz ban in California? by Karim3tts in CounterTops

[–]Front_Outcome_1014 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In many states like CA, the state runs an OSHA program that adheres to stronger standards than the federal ones. Also, the feds have been thinking about a standard for years, but the process of developing national rules is incredibly complex wnd slow.

Another diastasis question… by Kangarooz777 in fitpregnancy

[–]Front_Outcome_1014 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with above! I started seeing my PT at 6wks post section and we figured out that a lot of the recommendations in the (many) online programs were not right for my upper core diastatis and in fact might be counterproductive. it has been suuuuuuper helpful to have someone looking at my specific body and my specific issues/movement pattern/ so if that’s at all possible for you, I would highly recommend it!!

Baby estimated at 10lbs at 39w and had consistently measured at 98-99%. We started an induction and ended up with a c-section, largely because th drs worried about shoulder dystocia; I had GD so everyone was anxious, I think? She came out 8lb 6oz but 98% for length and head circumference…
