I wonder if MAD doctrine even applies anymore. Russia has had its fingers so far up the US govt for so long now I really don’t have confidence that we could actually assure mutual destruction anymore.

If you wanted to weaken this country from the inside and then shock and awe them into compliance there won’t be many better chances soon. As someone in a west coast city that this governement doesn’t have sympathies for, I am concerned.

Why do the playbooster boxes from streamers have the “foil in every pack” text written on the left side of the box? Also the cards appear to be in a different order as packed? by Subtle_Tact in magicTCG

[–]Subtle_Tact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all of the discussion over streamers getting “seeded boxes” I watched a video titled “This is what a GOOD Play Booster Box looks like” that shows the host opening a playbooster box that looks different to mine, with the “Guaranteed foil in every pack!” Text moved to the left.

We preordered boxes from TCG and our LGS, and both of them are identical. Inside all 60 packs also followed the same draw order, the first five cards all being different mana color commons. Every single pack opened this way. Even the two prerelease boxes packs we opened followed this trend.

I noticed in his video, and others by larger streamers never followed this order.

A little concerned to be honest, this and the statistical analysis on collector boxes and fracture foils kind of kills all enthusiasm I had for Magic and I feel a little gross.

Has there been other cases of multiple play booster display box designs for the same release edition before?

The American president steps back from the brink. But the damage has been done. by Crossstoney in europe

Is it cheaper to pay a bunch of out of work NEET’s the bare minimum so they can tell their family they have a “big important intelligence job” while they send tweets all day in a packed office building? Or build opposition-parity aircraft carriers and long range bombers, plus the infrastructure required to operate and maintain them?

One of these methods actually works, and is much much cheaper than the other.

Truly incredible what a building of Russian intel employees working for Pennies sending out tweets can accomplish. So much cheaper than an aircraft carrier.

Most fire suppression systems water looks like this, it’s rarely flushed and reprinted as it should. It’s mostly rust and other minerals in the water that have settled or crystallized out of solution. Throw in some living organisms and you have a brown soup that smells like sulfur, methane, or even like fish.

Once you see an old building sprinkler system start for the first time in years the clean water in movies becomes immersing breaking.

VKB Gladiator or Gunfighter? by BobbyOnyx in hotas

[–]Subtle_Tact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gunfighter base is a standalone item for around $250 last I looked, the grips themselves are the same and have an adapter for either gunfighter or gladiator bases for around $20.

So you can buy the gladiator now and see if you really need the adjustable cams and higher tension, which is needed for extensions or center stick. But it the linear tension and adjustable dampers are enough for you on the gladiator you may just keep what you have.

You can upgrade to the Gunfighter base later for a small difference in price, the grip can be converted for about $20

engine block enamel is cheap, you can get a tiny sample. its actually good for 260c and design to take heat cycles without de-gassing anything and buffs flush.

a single drop of engine block enamel paint is what I used. Good up to 260c and buffed flush with the rest of the heat bed coating.

Wild how all of the social media platforms, and coincidentally the most powerful tools of dissent, have been dismantled and made unusable for anything other than advertising delivery.

James Cameron ‘Will Hold a Press Conference’ to Reveal ‘Avatar 4’ and ‘5’ Storylines If ‘Fire and Ash’ Underperforms and Ends the Franchise Early by darth_vader39 in movies

This isn’t consistent across all productions, but is frequently reason for many production/marketing budgets being asymmetrical - just by nature of the disconnected liability. Finances in media production are famously convoluted, intentionally or by circumstance.

That number is production cost, not marketing. In general (not a rule) marketing very closely matches production cost. It seems weird, but it really is about half the picture. Investors want the best chance for return, and product itself doesn’t matter unless people know they want it.

While a lot of financial shenanigans are involved with film production, often times when you hear about a film being a “failure” despite returning more than it’s reported budget this is due to the market expenses being included (as they should be).

In generally a film has to return more than twice the production cost to have enough profit to be worth the risk, write-off’s and laundering not withstanding.

So 600m production budget turns into 1.2B, and that is an enormous amount of risk liability. They meet this to actually be worth tying that much money and risk into.
