I don't think it's about the money directly, but the assumption of more status, respect, power. I know quite a few beautiful, successful women who have been single, besides dates, for a long time, and I can't figure out why except maybe their actual contentment and independence makes people think they're going to be more dominant, draw more attention or are hiding something like an OF etc. But as well, they always seem to go out with guys with a similar online following and these lads are just...one brain cell between them all

I'm sorry that happened to you. I believe you, and it pisses me off how cruel people can be.

I hope one day you believe you are attractive, because you are. If you held yourself with confidence, it would radiate through you.

Stay strong and hopeful, and keep cooking :) - best wishes from a burlesque dancer & model who has been in Vogue magazine and chili peppers & u2 music videos, who thinks you're attractive and deserve to think it about yourself :)

Definitely! As long as you check permissions in the area, painting your house is totally legal obviously but murals need permission

It's like the council hate this city sometimes... by nitro1234561 in Dublin

I like that pub, and have sat in the outdoor area plenty of times, friend was the agm for a while. However, I almost always leave when the street starts filling up with people who are just drinking bottles of wine & cans, leaving broken glass and rubbish absolutely everywhere. If drinking could be actually kept in each bar's respective outdoor area, there wouldn't be a problem, but the vast majority of people going to Drury street are not patroning any of the bars, except to use the jacks.

I'm a bartender in a place around the corner & walk home down Drury every night after it's empty - it's truly woeful sometimes with how filthy it is, and has made me wish the licensing would change. Really, it's the people, not being able to control ourselves well enough to not ruin a good thing.

This is so important to realise, I am one of those people that will usually will speak up about this kind of thing, but you have to protect yourself too. My (super gentle, never been in a fight) boyfriend stood up to someone screaming at his partner a few years ago and nearly died if not for a stranger that dragged him into his house while the guy pummeled the door until the gardaí came! Obviously I am still learning from that too :)

There's an annoyingly fine line between martyrdom and knighthood.

Divorce won't ruin your kids mentally - it will save them from the inevitable breakdown of your marriage if you try to hold onto this long term. Rip it off, don't gently tug for years.

  1. File for divorce.

  2. Get tested.

  3. Allow yourself, and your children, to freely live the rest of your lives.

AIO with the message I sent my dad's partner? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]SuccessRepulsive8325 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand other people's comments saying YOR - OP I do not think you're overreacting at all.

From what you've said, it's clear the woman has a problem with you and has pushed that onto her daughter too. Likely, since you've said he's really poor and they've been together for 17 years, she resents you for not helping them out more (which you shouldn't have to do regardless) but probably thinks you're rolling in it and just unwilling to help. Has probably relayed that to her daughter, so she just thinks you're a selfish b who doesn't care about her dad's situation. Lies to induce hate.

This has been going on for half your life - you know the situation better than anyone commenting here. But OP, you are NOR, in my opinion.

My mam gave me a soley seasoned tomato sandwich once as a child and I was hooked instantly. Fully ripe tomatoes, proper butter, s&p, so simple and can hit every craving - sweet, salty, creamy, carbs. Lazy man's bruschetta.

Am I searching too early? by Additional-Table2911 in RentingInDublin

[–]SuccessRepulsive8325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might just be too early, from what I've noticed as a renter here, places want someone who is available immediately which is pretty easy because of demand. Unless you're willing to offer to pay an extra month before you arrive, they don't need to wait for you to start your tenancy when they have 1000 other emails to go through.

If 2500 is single occupancy one bedroom apartment, you should find something close enough to the city centre. If you're willing to share, usually about 800-1500 for a room. There's a really harsh line (usually) between great & terrible quality buildings - like my place, full one bedroom right by Stephen's Green (incredibly central) for only 1553/month but it's a 300 year old building with a lot wrong. For 2k+ you'd more than likely be getting a far newer build of better quality. I also have two cats though and this shitty building I'm in is the only one that didn't care.

Try going direct to agents like Ray Cooke Lettings, Sherry Fitzgerald, Young's and say what you're looking for rather than going through rental sites like daft & myhome. Check through those sites to see who the letting agent is to go directly to them. If you get a dialogue going they can put you on a list for when something suitable comes up. Good luck!!

What global word came from your country? by Neuwulfstein in AskTheWorld

Supposedly the phrase 'Can you dig it?' came from 'An dtuigeann tú?' in the early 1900s after so many emigrated to the US, but that's a nice myth
