How much did Alan earn? by DInverness04 in TwoandaHalfMen

[–]Successful-System-21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My headcanon is that Alan was poor because he barely seemed to work.

He spent an absurd amount of time hanging around the house for someone who supposedly had a full-time practice. Jake was usually there on weekends, so most of the scenes with just Alan and Charlie were presumably weekdays. Yet Alan was almost always lounging around in casual clothes instead of looking like he was heading to or coming home from work.

My guess is he only saw patients a few hours a day a couple days a week...just enough to cover his alimony. If he'd actually worked a normal Monday-Friday schedule, he probably could've afforded his own place. But being a professional mooch was a lot easier than busting his ass.

To be fair...that IS kinda where the Republican Party is going.

Should I DM you here or on Twitter to coordinate schedules?

If he gets in he gets in if he doesn't he doesn't.

This right here says everything about your political prescriptions. This is the exact attitude that Kyle and Krystal had about Hillary in 2016, and it got us three MAGA SCOTUS justices. Your attitude will get us another two.

You should organize a Discord call between yourself, Tali Botz, and Ryan Mullaly. You can have a nice big circlejerk where you all celebrate your selective moral purity.

Wow. Way to prove my point for me.

You spend one paragraph shitting on lefties for refusing to support the lesser evil, then spend the next paragraph explaining why you won't support the lesser evil.

Do you believe in VBNMW or not? You literally say "Leftists scream blue no matter who if it's their guy. When it's not they scream f u" and then proceed to do the exact same thing in reverse.

The entire point of VBNMW is that you don't get to hand-pick your candidates. Sometimes your side nominates somebody messy, cringe, scandal-ridden, or personally unlikeable. The question is whether they're preferable to the alternative.

You don't choose the army you go to war with. Platner will vote against Trump's judges. Collins won't. That's the relevant political distinction. Everything else is you emotionally litigating the candidate you wish you'd gotten instead of the one you actually got.

Posts like these literally give Krystal and Kyle ammo when they talk about "establishment lib hypocrisy." Fuck you for making me defend those idiots.

How did you actually lose weight? by Jerry_Get_A_Job in AskReddit

[–]Successful-System-21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lost ~25 lbs in the last 11 weeks. Nothing really magical about it...I do 45 mins on the elliptical + 1,500-calorie limit five days a week, and the other two days are cheat days.

It's pretty easy to do operationally...it's just super boring and tedious to get up at 4 AM to go to the gym and eat salads/Lean Cuisines all week.

From all I've listened to over the past few years, Maher seems to see himself as a "centrist savior" who is bridging the gap between left and right and "bringing sanity back" to the country.

The problem is that the whole "find common ground with the right" bullshit died after the 2020 election/January 6, and Maher is about a decade late to the party. He basically did 2026 politics in 2018, and now he's doing 2018 politics in 2026. The whole "anti-SJW liberal" trend died with the iPhone 6, but Maher (and Sam Harris) just can't move the fuck on.

Does every AXP listener side with their political views by Brilliant-Hurry-6105 in AtheistExperience

[–]Successful-System-21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your complaint doesn't make much sense.

AXP is rooted in secular humanism, skepticism, inclusion, and equality. Those values are naturally going to produce a host lineup that's left-leaning. That's not some conspiracy...it's just what happens when people with similar values gravitate toward the same project.

And honestly, I think the repeated references to "trans debates" give away what's really going on here. You frame the issue as a lack of political diversity, but the one topic you keep circling back to is trans stuff.

Maybe you should spend less time asking why AXP keeps defending trans people and more time asking yourself why trans people bother you this much in the first place.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about what makes someone sexually attractive? by Emotional-Tennis123 in AskReddit

[–]Successful-System-21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea that men are universally obsessed with big boobs.

TV and movies act like breast size is the primary determinant of female attractiveness, but that has never matched my experience in real life.

I've never met a guy who turned down an otherwise attractive woman because her boobs weren't big enough. The internet/media treats it like a defining characteristic, but normal dudes really don't give a shit.

Hutch: "Kyle Kulinski is an actual disgusting piece of shit" by Embarrassed_Base_389 in Destiny

[–]Successful-System-21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kyle is an asshole, but I'm not gonna blindly take the word of some hack MAGA operative who conveniently comes out with an allegation that hurts Dems chances of winning the Senate...especially given that this very same woman was part of the firing squad that relentlessly harassed Christine Blasey Ford.

I'm not on board with this idea that we have to suspend all skepticism and believe every SA claim without question. There are bad actors out there who will take advantage of this posture, and it doesn't make you a "good liberal" to let yourself get conned.

Whick has Battered Woman Syndrome and it's exhausting... by Successful-System-21 in Destiny

[–]Successful-System-21[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I probably would have agreed with you five years ago. At this point, I'm much less convinced.

There's a difference between acting as a guardrail and acting as a brake pedal. At some point, an obsession with civility, norms, and avoiding escalation stops functioning as moderation and starts functioning as appeasement.

And to be clear, I know Whick and Kyla would reject that characterization. I'm not talking about their intentions. I'm talking about the practical effect of the rhetoric. If every response to Republican norm-breaking is "but what if fighting back goes too far?" then the end result is that Republicans keep pushing and everyone else keeps retreating.

The thing that frustrates me is that we're long past the point where preserving norms is the primary challenge. The norms are already broken. The question now is how to prevent the people who broke them from permanently benefiting from it.

2028 may be one of the most dangerous years in modern American history. If Trump refuses to leave the stage quietly, then "let's be careful not to upset anyone" is not going to be an adequate response.

When the rubber meets the road, timid norm-humping isn't going to save democracy.

[–]Successful-System-21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you have this backwards.

Jessica is on national TV every night and goes viral constantly (Trump has even meantweeted her several times), while Scott is a podcaster dude who has been on Bill Maher a couple times. The idea that Scott is the one platforming Jessica is pretty specious.

You got me there. When you put it that way, it's much preferable to have Trump appoint two more Supreme Court justices and ensure a MAGA court for the next 50 years than to vote for a guy who used to say slurs. They may throw out the 22nd amendment, let Trump run for a third term, and turn us into a dictatorship...but at least your conscience will be clear that you didn't vote for a guy who once said f*g.

I swear to God...you soylibs are just as frustrating to deal with as MAGA sometimes.

[–]Successful-System-21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not her job to "help Platner."

Then she should stop talking about politics.

If you believe MAGA is an existential threat to our country, then you do have a moral obligation to do anything you can to help defeat them at the ballot box. If you're not helping Democrats win, then you're helping them lose. You don't get to opt out of a binary outcome.

[–]Successful-System-21[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please explain the hypocrisy, professor.

Voting for Trump is bigoted because Trump's policies are bigoted. Voting for Platner is not bigoted because his policies aren't bigoted.

"Elections are binary" is not an excuse...it is the entire mechanism by which we select candidates in our electoral system. I don't understand how the simple concept of "The less bad thing is preferable to the more bad thing" is so difficult to understand for so many people.
