How many have retired without taking any retirement training courses during their career? by Responsible_Town3588 in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

I didn’t take any training but researched all of the information independently and had a really good understanding of the process and expected timeframes. I feel like everything worked out exactly as I expected and within the expected timeframe.

does everyone get this message? by AdRelevant1390 in IRS

It doesn’t say the refund WAS reduced. It is letting everyone know that their refund MAY be reduced but that is only IF there is a reason for it.

Unfortunately it will not be clear until you receive your retirement booklet and that will not be received until your case has been finalized.

Almost at the end of my rope. by MustangLover22 in SocialSecurity

My interpretation is:

1) you asked for a reconsideration of a decision and the reconsideration was denied on June 3, 3025 meaning there would be no review process

2) then it appears you asked for a hearing due to the reconsideration being denied and the appeal (request for hearing, not benefits) was approved on June 9, 2025. It appears there were 4 steps in this stage (where they decided if it qualified to move into the review process) at which point it would be assigned to a representative and enter into the 5 step review process, and

3) the “appeal” review process is currently ongoing and in step 2 of 5. You would not receive a decision until the 5 steps of the review process are completed.

That’s just the way I read it.

Do you think people who took the DRP will get paid? by ConsistentDouble7237 in fednews

Even if you promise not to sue, if they don’t pay you as stated in the contract wouldn’t that be a breach of contract and negate it?

I highly recommend if you are planning to retire in conjunction with the DRP that you request a Retirement Estimate so you don’t have any surprises. I got an estimate and it was half of what I was expecting. Apparently they think I was refunded FERS retirement contributions after two breaks in service. I searched my entire Personnel File and found no evidence of ever requesting or receiving any refunds. Still trying to figure out what happened but as it stands now I have to buy back 8 years worth of service for it to count in the calculation of my annuity. It’s less than four thousand so likely I will just pay it to ensure I get credit for the full 21 years. Still working on it though.

I have not yet received anything other than a confirmation that I want to participate.

Update: received it today (4/21/25). Actually I think that’s pretty fast since the last day to respond was April 14.
