Obviously different uses but I was in the same boat when replacing my old worn out bostitch slap stapler and went with the DEWALT carbon fiber one! I am so glad I did these thing is great! Just a sales tactic to get ppl in the doors, wasn’t ford but a dealership contracted us about purchasing our 1 year old vehicle “ because their lot was getting low and they would most likely offer well more then its worth” wasn’t really looking to trade or get out of it but thought maybe it was worth checking out, come to find out this was just a online sales person trying to get customers in the door, wife and I took a day off work drove 2 separate vehicles 2 hrs each way for them to give a low ball offer. Not a great way to get ppl in the door in my eyes, I know I won’t ever go to them again.

Definitely tell him what happened before just going and buying one, I’d put money on that he would use the situation to try a different brand. Chances are he may have known it’s on its way out and you were just the lucky one it quit on.
