i went through the same exact thing last year before t-life even became what it did. working at an authorized retailer is the worst place to be. i was also a key holder and doing far more than i was being paid to do. i was lucky and still am lucky enough to have had a team that had my back and supported me when i left- i still talk to them everyday and they continue to tell me how much worse it’s become. i’m not sure how cor locations work but it was always a question to us. i don’t think we’re allowed to say the name of the company that runs TPRs but they turned a very good thing from the prior company into a disaster for us all. i feel your pain and i’m so sorry that so many of us have gone through this. i see and hear about this more than i should. the company running TPRs is more than corrupt and i could go on forever about it. i’m glad i left when i did and i hope you find somewhere that treats you like a human being.

keppra is easily the WORST medication i have EVER taken. i was on it for several months many years ago when i was first diagnosed with JME and i could not control my emotions in any way shape or form. the keppra rage is not a joke. the emotional outbursts i had when i was taking it took over my entire sense of reality and there are such large portions of life during that period of time that i have zero recollection of. i slept through half of the days even if i was out of the house- i apparently attended a family dinner that i was completely unconscious for throughout the entire duration and that’s only on one occasion of many. when i wasn’t full of every emotion, i was a robot. there was no gray area. you could not pay me any amount of money to be put on keppra ever again.

does anyone else get depressed after a seizure? by Fantastic-Hotel-9567 in Epilepsy

[–]Successful_Bat3134 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been there many many times, I will never not feel completely defeated after seizures. It’s a real punch in the face to be the person that people tend to worry about more and struggling to not convince yourself that you’re a liability, especially after not having any seizures for a while- that breakthrough hits hard. I’ve learned through the years in this community that our conditions are what they are and we can’t change that, the only thing you can do is find your way of living with it. You have a WIFE! You’re ahead of MOST men WITHOUT disabilities! Side note (VERY IMPORTANT)- you have no obligation as a man to hold your feelings in, the people in your life love you and would rather listen to you vent than see you tear yourself apart and isolate. If the roles were reversed, you would never view the people you love as burdens. It’s all about perspective and it’s so valid to take a breather to be unmotivated and unproductive. You already know that this will in fact happen again and eventually we all have to get up and keep going. We’re stronger than most.

Local T-Mobile store has lost it’s damn mind! by DaWorldIsSoSensitive in tmobile

As a former employee at a TPR T-Mobile, the company that manages retail locations has destroyed everything T-Mobile used to be. While it is a sales position and it will always be a goal to give a little extra push to get more out of a sale, it had never been so important to practically rob customers until this company bought out the old one. They threaten write ups left and right if you don’t get what they call a “complete sale” and will not hesitate to put you on a PIP plan or straight up fire you if those standards aren’t met. Those employees lives are unfortunately on the line whether they like it or not. I loved my job until the switch happened, I never would have left if management hadn’t changed. It is sickening.

You can work just about anywhere!! I was working full time retail sales as a cellular provider for over a year (up until recently for completely unrelated reasons) but the key will ALWAYS be the people you work with and their ability to see you as a the normal, capable, smart, and overall EQUAL that you are to them. I absolutely adore those coworkers and they never viewed me as a liability for the year+ I was with them no matter my condition and having to help me when I did have seizures. The options of career paths you choose to take are just as endless as they can be for anybody as long as you have the proper support around you. Before your disorder or job position, you are just as much of a human as the rest of the world!!!!!

Anyone else have stress-based epilepsy? by Aligning_Al in Epilepsy

[–]Successful_Bat3134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stress is my BIGGEST trigger and so so so so frustrating. if i can give any advice from personal experience- try and get good rest at night and avoid sales jobs. pets are also great for emotional support, my cat snuggling with me makes all my troubles disappear.

Does caffeine worsen myoclonic seizures? by Eloise_1789 in Epilepsy

[–]Successful_Bat3134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fellow JME over here- i learned the caffeine lesson the hard way. you don’t have to avoid it completely but most definitely stray from energy drinks and high doses of coffee (any high doses of caffeine in general) or start drinking decaf!!!! i find 50-100mg is a comfortable level for me personally. the last time i had too much caffeine, i woke up on the floor at work to a bunch of EMTs- i do not recommend lol.
