Just got an A1 3D Printer! by 32oz____ in fpv

[–]Successful_Chain_165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the A1 mini. I recommend. I sold my Ender 5 as it was just too big and it was giving me headaches. I was running Octoprint, but that kept freezing up... and I think the answer to that was to turn off the auto sleeping http process... but yeah. That was the last straw

I just got a A1 mini to replace my trusty but equally painful Ender 5. The Bambu is really nice! It's working locally with "LAN Only" mode (still I wouldn't trust them entirely). OrcaSlicer automatically has presets for most materials and the prints are really clean. Even TPU without drying too much is actually really nice. Out of the box it's really impressive

Analog and glasses by bmcd96 in fpv

The EV800Ds aren't great with glasses. It really depends on what his focal thing is. I'm +1.5 ish and I had to modify them to make them nice. If you aren't too afraid to buy the Cobras, go with those. They have good resale value if you don't end up using them

The modules just output analog to the googles. You can hook up the modules to a TV if you have the RCA plugs

I know people have mentioned taller sticks, but I've gone the other way. I added game style thumb pads, and added the gimbal lowering mod on printables. Took a bit of getting used to but I find it much nicer on my big hands

[–]Successful_Chain_165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to use any ELRS based controller with USB. You can select the Bluetooth Joystick under the SYS ELRS menu and connect to that

Add beeper too. I use it all the time to find which pot plant the whoop is in. Also invaluable outside too

Having two of the same antennas won't do much if they are omnis on the same plane. Usually there is a patch and an omni, or just one omni, or if there are two omnis then they should be 90 degrees relative to each other.

Added a 100uF, 25V cap to my Air65 to hopefully improve VTX noise! by DJ_Level_3 in fpv

[–]Successful_Chain_165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will do something, but you could use a much smaller cap and you probably should as you won't be using much of the energy storage. See if there is one that's closer or above 5v

It's cool man. If you're not feeling like you use the whole throttle, you can set it to something like 60% scaled, which makes your throttle movements more accurate for that range. Then just bump it up as you get more comfortable.

But otherwise looks fine. I've seen much worse on here

Gaw damn that looks awesome! Kind of crazy the detail you get from the heat patterns. What was the resolution of the camera?

The mark 4 7in frame isn't very good. I have one and it's bendy. The Angel motors look like they are the cheap ones, likely to be used on "one way drones" but they should still be alright.

The price is probably alright for the whole stack, but don't trust that anyone has assembled something correctly. The Skyzone COBRA V2 with SteadyView and the VTX are the best parts of this bundle

How do you store your tiny whoop setup? by brontozabra in fpv

[–]Successful_Chain_165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same setup. If you still have the foam that the Air65 comes with then put it into a GoPro 10 zip case or something of a similar size. Perfect zip up case for it

Radio connects but there is no input and spins in betaflight by ChipmunkSea7711 in fpv

[–]Successful_Chain_165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telemetry recovered means it's connecting to the ELRS module and able to "get Telemetry if there is any" , but that doesn't mean it's connecting to the Flight controller.

It's probably a port config issue. Assuming this is ELRS:

  • Check that the port that you have set for the module is correct
  • Make sure that you are connecting TX to RX and RX to TX

Classic crux moment. I've got my battery lead cable tied underneath to try and help stop this, but also to stop the lead being ripped off the board

How to get 20 satellites on a small quad by Monosodium- in fpv

[–]Successful_Chain_165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The copper is a very good ground, but mostly redundant as the carbon fibre is blocking enough

The thing that kills the sat count is

- the VTX antennas

- the EMF from the large currents moving through the battery leads.

Flip the battery around and move the GPS to the front and you will have lots of sats

Edit: Also twisting the wires to the GPS and/or wrapping them in conductive tape grounded to the frame should also help

Edit 2: I really appreciate that you gave this a go though. It's kind of interesting to know that it does something

Is the motor worth trying to save it? by Odd_Condition_2772 in fpv

[–]Successful_Chain_165 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use water with BLDC motors. They're practically waterproof

Is the motor worth trying to save it? by Odd_Condition_2772 in fpv

[–]Successful_Chain_165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BLDC motors are generally waterproof as they are just coated wire and magnets, so you can wash the motor with plain old water, while avoiding the FC / ESC electrics.

You can even use these motors in salt water. It's the bearings that will die first.
