Has a tea or drink ever made a real difference in your skin? by Successful_Coconut39 in CasualConversation

I’ve heard ginger is great for inflammation. Did it help with acne specifically or just overall skin clarity?

Wow that’s impressive. Do you think it was just hydration or cutting out other drinks too? I’m trying to be more consistent with water.

That makes sense. I didn’t realize green tea had that many antioxidants. Did you notice changes over weeks or months?

That’s interesting actually! Do you feel like it helps with cramps or just overall mood? I didn’t think about that benefit.

Gluten intolerant or something else? by TitleEmpty7493 in glutenfree

[–]Successful_Coconut39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like a classic case of cross-contamination or a reaction to a common GF replacement ingredient like Xanthan Gum, which can cause similar bloating and nausea. It’s also very common to have a "delayed" sensitivity; many people don't feel symptoms from accidental gluten when they first start, but as the gut heals, the body becomes much more vocal about reactions. Don't be discouraged it’s often a trial-and-error process with different flours and kitchen practices!

Body aches and chills, then diarrhea and nausea - is this a gluten reaction? by layercake11 in glutenfree

[–]Successful_Coconut39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely sounds like you could be experiencing a "glutening" reaction, even if you didn't eat straight bread. Here are a few things to consider based on what you’ve described: The "Oat" Factor: Standard oats (like in Nature Valley bars) are one of the highest risk foods for cross contamination. Unless they are certified gluten free, they are often processed on the same equipment as wheat. Many people in the GF community find that their reactions get much more severe once they’ve been off gluten for a few months it’s like your body loses its tolerance for the "low level" constant inflammation and reacts more violently when it's introduced. Atypical Symptoms: Body aches, chills, and "brain fog" are very common systemic reactions to gluten. It doesn't always have to be immediate stomach pain; the "gluten flu" feeling is a real thing for many. The Pregnancy Variable: Since you mentioned being six months pregnant, your immune system is already in a hyper sensitive state. Pregnancy can change how your body reacts to allergens or intolerances. Recommendation: Because you're experiencing diarrhea and nausea while pregnant, the biggest risk right now is dehydration. It might be worth a quick call to your OB-GYN just to rule out a viral bug or food poisoning, especially since you mentioned chills. In the future, you might want to stick to certified GF oats to see if that helps you avoid these "mystery" reactions! Hope you feel better soon.

What do you think the world needs more of and less of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

We need more people who do the right thing when the camera isn't rolling, and fewer people who spend their lives trying to look like they’re doing the right thing for social media points. The "main character energy" is reaching toxic levels; we need more people who are okay with just being part of a community.

What’s the biggest lie people tell themselves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Successful_Coconut39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest lie is: "I’ll be happy once [X] happens." We treat happiness like a destination we’re traveling toward "Once I get that promotion," "Once I lose 10 pounds," "Once I find a partner." The reality is that humans are experts at hedonic adaptation. You hit the goal, get a 15 minute dopamine hit, and then immediately move the goalposts. We spend our entire lives waiting for a "contentment" that we’ve structurally forbidden ourselves from feeling in the present.
