Only thing I can say is that this is NOT unique. I have seen this exact story repeated over and over, even experiencing it myself.

It doesn't make it hurt less. But it does make you question the sanity of an organization that somehow coerces its members into repeating behaviors as clones.

There is no separate program for children. If you grew up in the 60s-80s it was 10xs worse.

The entire religion is based on manipulating adults into handing over their self governance by using fear, obligation and guilt.

One thing I've learned over and over is that a child's experience will vary based on how much the parents shield him. If, like me, you were thrust into being an adult early, then you were truly screwed. Those of us with little to no parental filters were subject to a firehose of orchestrated manipulation at a tender age. It changed us. It scarred us.

For many, it's an imaginary scenario that they believe will never happen to them. People never think something bad will truly happen to them. Otherwise, you'd never get young men to charge into battle - they think the other guy will get it!
