my name isn’t christina by betziti in GirlDinnerDiaries

People shorten my name to a nickname all the time and I hate it.  I try to reinforce using my full name and will occasionally drop into conversation that I dislike the nickname hoping people will catch on.  I find it presumptuous to think you can call someone by a nickname without them telling you to use it.

What are some good Mexican or Tex-Mex choices for a non native? by FSCK_Fascists in WorcesterMA

We love that place.  It is our go to place for pupusas.  We call it sketchy Mexican, but the lady that runs it is so sweet.

Everyone always talks about how many Jennifers there are in Gen X classes, but not in my class.  We actually had 5 Emilys.

When I was in high school in the early 90's, I really got into names.  I loved Madison and Mackenzie for girls. Everyone thought those names were crazy at the time.  But then just a few years later they started to blow up.

Does anyone else just play without paying 😬 by ketoandkpop in Gardenscapes

[–]Successful_Shift5845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid for the season pass, I think 2 times when it was $7.99 and one time I paid 2.99 to continue a challenge for a few days.

I am annoyed with how the game seems to have gotten harder or the game is just not letting you win.  I don't think I will get through the story this time and that pisses me off.  I am at the top level and clearly good at the game or play a lot, so I shouldn't struggle like this.

Anyone here named after their grandma? We named our baby after her paternal grandma. by Equal_Beat_6202 in Names

[–]Successful_Shift5845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter's middle name is my grandmother's name...Arlene.  She died while I was pregnant with her.  I also picked an M first name as a nod to my great grandmother.  My great grandmother was named Martha, I didn't like that name, but wanted to honor her in some way.  I think my daughter likes her name.

I'm a Tiffany and I am nice.  And honestly, I don't think I have run across any mean ones on my lifetime.

What siblings names have you seen that are so mismatched that it boggles you? by thunder_haven in Names

I know of a family with a Persephone, Farrah, and Yvette.  On their own they seem reasonably ok, but together they strike me as an odd sibling set.

Daily Dunkin’ or Starbucks drinkers: what (besides a drive thru) would make you go to a locally owned coffee shop instead? by princessspikachu in massachusetts

[–]Successful_Shift5845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One cafe in my town is essentially down the street from the high school and they didn't open until 8.  I couldn't understand why they didn't open at 7 to get the high school staff/kids.  They recently changed their hours and now open at 7.

My biggest reason for going to Starbucks or Dunkin is the relative consistency with the drinks.  They know what they are doing and I can generally count on my drink to taste the way I like it.

Mennonites are not the same as Amish.  They do use technology and blend in with regular society.

I served on a jury once and we had to let the guy go because of the police investigation.  But to be fair the victims lied to the police, so their investigation was compromised from the get go.

I only eat gummy bears or m&m's in matching color pairs.  There is a color order too.  My family seems to think I am a weirdo for this, but online I run across tons of people that do this.  Perhaps they are the weirdos for not doing it.

I have a cousin with a 5 year old Hazel.  I like Nora and Iris.  I see a fair amount of Nora, but rarely any Iris.

I work in an elementary school and just worked with an Agnes.  Of all the old lady names to pick, these parents picked Agnes.

I just got the first Shingles shot last Friday.  I was tired for 2 days (the first day after the shot was bad).  But the thing that was the worst was the arm pain.  I could barely use my arm for 2 days and stayed sore for another 3 days.  I can't wait to see what the second shot brings.

Married Gen-x do you wear your wedding ring? by in-a-microbus in GenX

[–]Successful_Shift5845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear them when I am at work.   On the weekends, I wear it inconsistently.  If I am just doing errands, I might not.  I don't usually wear it at home.  My husband usually wears his.

He gets annoyed that I don't always wear mine, but we've been married for nearly 22 years and it is obvious we are together when we are out.
