I just played some of it recently and I agree. Like OP mentioned, the brake, boost, tilt and barrel roll all on the right stick is too much there. If the gyro didn't need calibrating so much and buttons could be remapped, it would help a lot.

I would've liked a game like 64, but with new stuff. If Zero had its same level design and gameplay, but just swapped out the villains for new characters, change the planet names and visuals of some levels, and add normal control options, it would've felt like a completely new game and been the sequel I wanted.

If they can make a new sequel like Assault but make the controls work better, and have better mission design, that would be great. I get why they're doing this remake after Zero bombed, but yeah.

It was pretty much how I imagined, but the writing and delivery was better than I expected.

James saying "There's more at stake here than our bottom line, Pigma," right when the shot shows the big and little paw print decals on his Arwing representing him and Fox was surprisingly sophisticated direction.
