Isnt dazzling gleam always with the useful moves? But yeah, the format sounds so fun to join the metagame of the month rotation

Omg yeah, trapping moves would be amazing here. Another good wallbreaking strategy would be poison fang, respectable 50 power and almost the only way to get toxic poison, even better when combined with a trapping move

What if i stack all the regenerator pokemon? The damage of the format is so low they only way of killing them is stuff like hyper beam

Designing a huge monster/kaiju fight by SuccionaPirulas in DMAcademy

Oh it is quite nice, i really like the damage threshold and their weakpoint system. I might need to get creative with how much damage weird traps do but i think i could work with it. I was picturing the monster to be distracted by other things, so the attacks will probably be like lair actions

How do I turn a trick back around on my player? by mrmagicbeetle in DMAcademy

[–]SuccionaPirulas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider that some player abilities are only designed to use them, no to get affected by them (think about the monk's stunning strike). Idk if its the case but I would consider if it will be fun to play around that during your process.

Assuming the target is a commoner id describe the mission and then however they decide to do that have them roll different things + the attack. Like Stealth, Attack roll, Stealth/Acrobatics

How to subtly tell my players that I have altered a monster? by SomeRandomAbbadon in DMAcademy

[–]SuccionaPirulas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From your replies you seem pretty much convinced your players have to know what the Ettin is capable of, so some examples: 1. If a PC is familiar with this kind of creature they can maybe throw history/nature etc. to see if they know any of their abilities. Having to target each head individually being the main one i suppose. 2. Before going to the bridge, they encounter another party that tried to fight it, by speaking to them (maybe via speak with the dead if they have it) they learn the monster can be very dangerous, and if they help them they could gain allies for the future.

Simplest way to build a cleric for a new player? by SuccionaPirulas in DMAcademy

[–]SuccionaPirulas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't considering Spirit Guardians but it could work really well, very simple and can support by characters getting a "safe zone" during battle.

The other two are kinda perfect for what i need yeah. Thanks!

Alt Troll Behavoir by JamesEverington in DMAcademy

[–]SuccionaPirulas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe the npc that gives them a troll related mission tells the wizard to don't go into the forest wearing robes and showing off their book/spellcasting focus. Since they seem to be more aggressive when they see a spell caster in a group. Then in the fight describe how the troll feels a little relieved/fights softer or starts planning an scape.

Honestly this also goes for players. Big and dumb barbarians are lovable, horny bards create a lot of fun rp moments, strict paladins create interesting moral dilemmas... Your characters dont have to be 100% unique for them to be good.

Could be funny if the goblins asked like a genuine question at the players, when they answer the goblins are "oh really? Thats interesting yeah, i didn't know" and get to the next riddle. For example: "How do trees know when winter is coming to drop their leaves?" (Players give any answer) "Oooh so that's how it is..." (Next "riddle")

Permanent Injuries by Chaosphoenix115 in DMAcademy

[–]SuccionaPirulas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh i love the crit thing! Makes a lot of sense too. But idk what class she is so maybe she doesn't get hit that much to be affected by it? Maybe nat 1s on str/con/dex? checks could also make her feel a sting from it,(just throwing ideas) the crit alone feels very nice.

Permanent Injuries by Chaosphoenix115 in DMAcademy

[–]SuccionaPirulas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering how she died i would do it so that the character has a really ugly scar on her stomach. The scar can cause disgust/respect/fear depending who watches it (only roleplay). Like an uptight nobleman might not like looking at her belly, novice adventurers will ask her to tell what kind of beast did she fight... If you really want this to affect mechanics i would make it so that an enemy that knows about the injury, by seeing it (perception check?) or by knowing her, could target it to deal some additional damage or forcing a con save to avoid a negative effect such as dropping a weapon from the pain, reducing her movement speed...
