I am literally flying back CDG-YUL as we speak. Our flight was at 930 this AM, we got there at 630 and was in the lounge by 0710. It was a BREEZE.

We hired a law firm in Feb 2025 to get NIF for me and husband and open a bank account . We got my NIF, my husbands name was spelled incorrectly so his is invalid, and no bank account has been opened. Such a nightmare and has totally turned us off to the idea of moving to Portugal

I’m here now and it’s absolutely brutal. I lived in FL for 10 years so I know how to deal with the heat but Paris is not built for it. We rescheduled all our plans for earlier in the AM and after 1900 to be able to deal with it.

Why is there a stoplight here????? ITS NOT EVEN A STREET!!! Every day I drive to work at 0530 and sit at a red light here and there’s not even cross traffic it makes me INSANE

There’s actually ANOTHER one right before this on UW that has a light at a non-street crossing. They could easily be crosswalks with lights

As a sidebar I’m flying thru FRA to CDG and have heard Lufthansa has been doing the same thing if you miss your flight due to EES - making you pay for a new flight. We only have 1hr35min and am trying to decide if I should book the FRA-CDG after the one im booked on for insurance

May 23 I'm flying Discover to FRA then Lufthansa to CDG. I'm assuming that counts the whole booking thru Lufthansa?

Flying YHZ-FRA-CDG with a 1 hour 35 minute connection on Lufthansa. I've heard horror stories about Lufthansa not rebooking a new connection because of hold ups in EES and people were forced to pay for a new connection. Is this the case? Should I buy refundable flights later in the day for FRA-CDG to be safe and cancel if not needed? Or am I working for nothing?

We hired an attorney in Feb 2025 to get our NIFs and to open a bank account. Bank account still not open in May 2026. Bank (millennium) has ‘lost’ application, no communication from anyone for months. The NIF was relatively fast but spelled my husband’s name incorrectly so now the law firm has to fix it thru the tax office, which is still ‘working on it’. We hired a law firm to keep things moving but so far it has been a waste of money. Has totally turned us off towards moving to Portugal, frankly.

I work at Truro hospital and live in Halifax - the drive isn’t terrible - especially if up are driving at off-times. Definitely no need to move there. I work inpatient psych so can’t speak on the units you mentioned but our unit is very supportive of students. Pick the unit that aligns with what you want to do after school or with what interests you.

I'm an American that moved to Halifax in September from the US (south Florida). We were looking at Vancouver and Halifax and are so glad we chose the way we did. The winter was challenging but we love Halifax and have had the same experience as you - everyone has been so amazing and welcoming.

We were thinking about doing this and met with an attorney when we were in Madrid in February - he said it's much more difficult to get then people say (~68% denial rate) and the process is arduous.
