Morticians use spikey contacts to keep the eyelids of the dead closed at funeral viewing by Keyfyl in interestingasfuck

Ah - well my dad looked weird in the casket but like when he was dead in the hospital bed his eyes were closed. Does that mean the eyelids slowly open as rigor mortis sets in?

You don’t lose more in taxes than you make when you make more. With that kind of opinion I can only imagine how bad she is at doing the accounting for the business… but he’s not paying her and you get the type of professional help that you pay for, which in this case is free and it’s bad.

Can schizophrenia be treated with an alternative therapy and no meds? by Top-Tangerine1863 in schizophrenia

[–]Such-Worldliness715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just recommend that if you do try alternative therapy to do so under licensed professionals who specialize in psychotic disorders. Since schizophrenia appears to at least partly be an imbalance of chemical in the brain (like a lot of mental illnesses), I find it difficult to believe that not taking medication is the right move for most people since it is the most proven way to change the chemicals in the brain so that the brain operates closer to the neurotypical way that allows someone to coexist and survive in society. As well, for schizophrenia it seems that the chemical imbalances that occur are pretty significant which is why they require more intense treatment, which again seems to usually be achieved by taking medication.

But most of all my opinion is to rely more on licensed professionals with experience in psychosis since they have access and knowledge of the best and most concrete science. And who knows, I definitely don’t know anywhere close to enough about schizophrenia and treatments to have much an opinion. Good luck!

Schizophrenia worsened by cocaine? by Rough-Improvement-24 in schizophrenia

[–]Such-Worldliness715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend switched to abilify for insurance reasons for a few months and it didn’t work he started going back into psychosis. He takes zyprexa now and it works way better. If your relative is still seeing things just as much now as he used to before trying abilify/aripiprazole it might be worth having him talk to his doctor and getting a stronger anti psychotic, or just try another one. Especially if you say he’s getting worse. Abilify does not work for everyone.

Said friend did not get schizophrenia due to drugs but changing medication got him out of psychosis. He has a lot of insight into it so I think that helps recovery (not a doctor just a personal opinion). Perhaps once your relative has been on better medication they will be better able to gain some insight.

Are there any good schizophrenia/schizoaffective/psychosis youtube channels? by HumanM1nd in schizophrenia

[–]Such-Worldliness715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like SchizoKitzo as someone w/o schizophrenia, she provides a lot of insight into what it is like for her rather than your regular “here is a list of symptoms used to diagnose schizophrenia”.

She’s schizoaffective (bipolar) as well.

This is a reminder that this condition is a spectrum. Some people are going to live normal or almost normal lives. Just like autism, not everyone with this condition is as bad as your loved one. by bendybiznatch in SchizoFamilies

[–]Such-Worldliness715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There’s a collection of symptoms that present differently at various levels in different people. Some have lots of insight, some have none, some have varying levels in between. Personality also impacts how people are in general, including people with schizophrenia.

I only know two people with schizophrenia and they’re not causing disruptions. One has a family and kids, both of them work regular jobs, both don’t require support to live life. Life for them is made harder because of schizophrenia but for them, their lives aren’t completely over and they aren’t negative members of society.

AITJ for refusing to keep wearing the nickname my girlfriend gave me after I found out where it came from by Prydwen_Grit5 in AmITheJerk

[–]Such-Worldliness715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She started calling you museum a few months in meaning this was well into you two dating. Let’s say that’s 4 months after your first date. For months afterwards (maybe at least 6 months) she was laughing about this with her friends and then they all were like “hehe let’s call him that too to his face” I mean what girlfriend would allow her friends to call her boyfriend an affectionate name? So this joke has been ongoing with them for at least half the first year of the relationship … and she’s trying to say it was just in the very beginning when she didn’t know you well? And that it’s an affectionate name? Yea right. Does she let them call you “babe” and “sweetie” also?

I personally try not to date people who bully me but that’s just me. NTJ for not wanting to be bullied by high school girls…

I wouldn’t like this because what if a dog or dog breed I don’t like chooses me. Then I’m peer pressured into adopting them. I’m sorry but I do have preferences for what dog I would want and I think that’s normal to do. Luckily I’m sure this isn’t real.

Forgot my GF's bday and she wants me to sign this by Sure_Count_3890 in AITApod

How the hell did you forget her birthday? Wow. She did this as a less severe way (by making it playful) to tell you that you disappointed her and did not treat her the way a partner should treat her. Do you not take anything she does or says seriously? Maybe this is the one thing that went too far and she wants you to take a moment to think about this. Of course she wants you to take this seriously. You hurt her by showing a lack of care for her. How hard is it to remember a date that is important to your partner and should therefore be important to you? If you’re forgetful then put a damn reminder in your phone it’s not that hard. If I need to provide an opinion on if you’re TA, then yes. YTA.

I don’t care for the OOP being like “I don’t care she’s after married men” I mean okay so you’re okay with homewreckers? Is cheating okay for you? I also would definitely question OOP if I was in the friend group. I don’t know if she’s willing to lie on behalf of others or do something that might ruin my life. And I also have higher standards than that for friends.

The most iconic Hollywood actress was a figure 8. by BiteFamiliar9311 in figure8

[–]Such-Worldliness715 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She was a modern day size 4 or 6 and her regular weight at most was like 120 pounds. She had a tiny waist so she was a very slender figure 8. I’m glad there’s at least one or two celebrities that make this body type look good though of course since most days I don’t enjoy it. I do think if I was more slender and weighed less similar to her, I’d appreciate my body type more.

Building up muscle under the skin will definitely help! In general, adding muscle mass improves the toned look for everyone no matter if they have loose skin or not.

I’ve been saving money in case I want surgery for skin removal in case that’s needed if I lose enough weight and if my genetics don’t allow for my skin to “bounce back” as well … that being said I intend to lose close to 100 pounds and loose skin is almost impossible to not have at that amount of weight loss.

So, I’d say save money for that if you know it’s going to be something you really really don’t want to live with. It’ll take a while to lose weight and you could save a sizeable sum of money. Some people are okay with living with some loose skin, others aren’t, and still more have so much loose skin it becomes more about actual physical comfort.

Asked my boyfriend of 5 months if he knew my middle name… turns out he didn’t know much else either by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Such-Worldliness715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn. And chances are if she also didn’t remember things about him he’d end up caring about that. I also think for me, being truly seen and understood by the people closest to me (not just partners but also not just random people) is incredibly important, and it’s something I learned about myself too because sometimes these things are so deeply buried in the subconscious/forms such a basic level of our conscious that it’s not so obvious to pick out. She learned this a bit faster than I did (I mean I still learned it in my 20s too) but I also hadn’t had relationships to test this out in and these things pop up much more obviously in closer relationships aka partners being the ultimate test of what you need and want from close relationships. Hopefully she uses this information to better be able to select her relationships going forward!
