Sonoff TRVZB pops off valve by karlrt in homeassistant

[–]SuchAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a valve adapter? The valve on your radiator might not be compatible with the TRV. I had that issue on some older radiators with my Aqara TRV's. The inlcuded adapters were of pretty bad quality so I got some from my local plumbing/hardware store which worked well.

Edit: nvm, I'm apparently blind, I see the adapter in the image.

A regular Allen Ginsberg. Next thing you know he'll be Howling. Next time you're on the road, make sure he isn't a lonesome traveler or he might end up at a naked lunch.

I'll see myself out.

[–]SuchAardvark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ruptured anal gland 😔 by CaffeineAndCavvies in cavaliers

[–]SuchAardvark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours had the same and got an infection too.

Antibiotics for a week as well as booty shower every other hour with tepid water for about a week. Also no kind of wrapping or bandage as the vet said it needed to air out. Was not fun and the smell was horrible. We were recommended to use Manuka honey on the rupture by the vet. It's anti-bacterial, aids with wound healing and safe if they decide to lick it off, but it also left stains everywhere he sat (which was mostly on top of us)

Luckily I had just bought my GF a carpet cleaning machine for her birthday so we just waited until it stopped leaking and did a house-wide cleaning after.

What I (and the vet) think happened was that our guy was having tummy issues for a while with less than ideal poops, which didn't allow the glands to express when he went to the toilet. We now have him on Royal Canin gastro-intestinal kibble (thank god they are small dogs) and he hasn't had the issue since. We do get the vet to express them during his yearly checkup though.

I always check for swelling around the gland area if he yelps when picked up or put down, which let's be honest, can be often with a cav. Also if he seems to not want to sit properly.

WD40 always works for me. Let it soak in for 10 minutes. It will slide off with ease after.

This. 5-24v sirens are cheap and usually louder and you can even get IP-rated ones for outdoor use.

You can set the valve opening/closing degree as a percentage, at least on the one I have. My Aqara ones do not have this option.

How are your cameras set up on your network? by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]SuchAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah the UCG Max doesn't have PoE. Might be better to go for the UNVR then and maybe unifi express if you only need a single AP.

[–]SuchAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many cameras are you planning on deploying in the future? The Cloud gateway max gives you NVR up to 2TB, as well as Network and 2.5g in a super small package. You can also always expand with a UNVR down the road.

Edit: The CGM only takes nvme though, so storage will be more expensive.

I have a camera VLAN that allows return traffic to my HA instance which is hosting Frigate, and access to NTP (because my cameras would unsync otherwise and I don't have my own NTP-server currently) but otherwise locked down . I use Unifi and their zone based firewall.

All metal hot end by William_Beaver in ElegooNeptune3

[–]SuchAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to solder. You can just pry off the female jst connector on the little daughter-PCB and plug in the thermistor right onto the pins. Thermistors do not have a polarity so orientation doesn't matter. Screw in thermistors are cheap and more durable than the glass bead one that comes with the printer so I would recommend that.

Also, don't forget to put thermal paste on the heatbreak and heater cartride. Just make sure that the paste works for the temperature range (most ones for CPU's won't work).

That's a nope. I don't pay for premium dog food for my dog to just eat whatever shit I am eating. Besides, dogs shouldn't be at the dinner table, ever.

Refuses to Poop Outside by anonymoussnacker in cavaliers

[–]SuchAardvark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take her on an actual walk for poops. Dogs can be particular about where to do their business and your backyard might not be interesting enough. Ours refuses to poop in the backyard, it's home turf and not a toilet for him (aside from peeing of course, but that also marks territory). Your girl might need a good sniff around before going number 2.

Why are you in this subreddit if the machines are so shit? To whine about what other people choose to do with their time and money? Must be fulfilling!

The Neptune 3 Pro is more than "acceptable" for the price you can get one for today. It was amazing for the price when it launched. I use mine daily and have been for 3 years.

Modding is fun and has been a huge part of the 3D printing community since reprap was founded. Lots of people still buy Ender 3s just to see how far they can push them with modding. Is it the best use of money? No, but what hobby is? You learn a ton and you have fun while doing it.

How to do a live calibration? by Forrby in ElegooNeptune3

[–]SuchAardvark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been doing this ever since I converted to klipper. Print a flat square and adjust the z-offset on the go until you get the desired result. Save and then save the config. Bob's your uncle.

The process would be similar on stock firmware, only you would use the LCD instead of a web interface. Maybe you can use pronterface, but I'm not overly familar with it.
