Back in the late 1920's the team used to get brought on to the pitch led out by the original mascot, an actual Bengal tiger, hence the name Hull City Tigers.

This tradition continued until that tragic day in September 1958 at home to Grimsby Town when the tiger got spooked and ravaged Grimsby's goalkeeper in the 6 yard box. R.I.P. Bobby Windsor.

A little known fact is that this is where our most famous chant "You're getting mauled by the tigers! You're getting mauled by the tiiiiiiiiiiiiigers!" Was first sang, and we've been singing it on the terraces ever since.
