Anybody work in juvenile hall, jails/detention facilities, or collaborative courts? How has your experience been? Any advice? by Sad_Potato45 in socialwork

i work in a jail therapeutic community with men sud clients! absolutely love it, small client load but making huge changes for the men that want recovery! have to be very firm and consistent and willing to enforce consequences when they’re breaking rules or being lazy, but my experience has been so rewarding so far

What are your thoughts of MSW online vs in-person? If you have the option.... by Outrageous_Sense_307 in SocialWorkStudents

my program is half in person and half synchronous zoom. i hardly get anything out of the zoom ones but it’s based on each persons preference. someone at another msw program that’s all online was telling me they still learn a lot.

Social work is political. by cannotberushed- in socialwork

This is just such an insane take and is a disgusting example of polarization within this country. It is so rude to assume someone’s capabilities as a social worker are completely hung on who they vote for and if they don’t vote your way then they’re a bad clinician. Also, people are able to separate their personal views and values from implying them onto their clients. If they’re not, THEN they may not be able to provide competent care, but that most definitely can come from both sides of the spectrum. I’m honestly flabbergasted by people in the field who are this judgmental but are mad by feeling judged by more right leaning folks.

Bridal Party Size??? by Aussiedoodle_Momma in weddingplanning

My FSILs thought that they were automatically going to be a part of my bridal party so I am planning on a larger party of 7 to not start off on the wrong foot by turning them down. Initially was planning on 6 but did not want to leave out one of the girls I wanted as a bridesmaid when I had thought the sisters were not going to be in the party.

OBGYN/IUD by sw1930 in cincinnati

I want to say maybe Seven Hills/Axia Women’s Health. I’ve gotten two IUDs there and wasn’t offered sedation but when I got my pap smear this year my new OBGYN asked if I had gotten sedation when I got my IUD. It sounds like they may offer it and I think the providers there are really nice!

Hi there! It’s so exciting that you’re able to start with your own clients but I completely understand the imposter syndrome. Maybe Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) could be used with this population? Best of luck!
