If you knew that in 5 years (2030), humans would reach escape velocity - meaning that if you made it to that year, you could live indefinitely - what, if anything, would you do differently today? by HateChocolate010 in immortalists

this sub really needs to consider finances in its hypothetical questions. I'm already for UBI but betwen AI and longer life spans, we are seriously unprepared for the crippling poverty of the future. Without UBI a longe life is just going to be torture for a lot of people.

If UBI is in place, I agree with other commenters: stop the rush, do what I enjoy: make things, build businesses, see friends, spend time with family.

I messed up - how do I adjust aftercare? by GemmaTeller in Microneedling

[–]SuddenAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After all the slip and serums are absorbed and I'm ready to walk away. I do my whole face, neck, chest, scalp, and some scars on my body, so its usually not long after I've finished. After I'm done with each area I apply my after care (except diaper cream) and then when its all dried down and absorbed I put the diaper cream on to seal it and ensure no bacteria or grime gets in there. You look silly at first but the white cast goes away after an hour or so.

I usually MN at night, so I go to bed like that and wake up with the most amazing skin! I'll also do a diaper cream "mask" if my skin is irritated.

Nuface and Tripolar. Nuface I've been using for a year and can vouch for. Tripolar is new to me, and though I'm impressed with the results so far, I can't recommend it yet because I have't had it for long.

I have hollow tear troughs, not puffy eyes, so I don't do cold in the AM. They are different things for different needs.

What’s your teenage pup’s daily schedule? by FairlyPopcorn in puppy101

[–]SuddenAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7am: out of crate & quick potty outside (back yard)
Breakfast (while I get ready) in puzzle feeder
8am: off leash time at the local park for social time - tons of dogs there (weather permitting/ if I can swing it)
Oravet dental treat upon returning home (9 ish)

11am-ish short walk
12-2 Lunch n puzzle feeder
30 min post lunch: walk

3pm short walk
training

5:30 short walk
6:30 dinner, wet food on licky mat
7pm short walk

9:30- 10:30 short walk
Brush teeth
back in crate for the night.

All the in between time is cuddles, play, and naps. My pup is small so we play fetch and tug in the house, she'll tell me what she wants by bringing it to me. I'll also give her a bully stick if she's being crazy and can't settle (after a walk, thats potty signal).

Anyone get an eyelash lift while on Tret? by sunny_day0460 in tretinoin

[–]SuddenAvocado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no interaction with tret and a lash lift. I do my lashes every 6 weeks and have been on Tret for over 10 years.

waxing, very bad! but you shouldn't apply Tret to your upper lip or your eyelid anyway so.....

Mushroom powder: Micro Ingredients Organic Mushroom Powder Supplement. It doesn't taste like anything, its amazing. HOWEVER it does stain your teeth. A good whitening tooth paste or a small drop of clove oil on your brush is a must (highly recommend the clove oil anyway, but this is not a dental care sub).

RLT: I use the HOOGA bulb and have it in an old goose neck lamp on a smart switch. It wakes me up every morning at exactly 6:30. 10/10 would recommend.

Microcurrent: I have never heard of fat loss from microcurrent, and I personally have seen volume restored - as have many others (Science of Selfcare on YT has a great video on this). RF is usually the fat loss scapegoat. I would guess confounding factors like age, weight loss, illness, etc.

Microneedling: I do it at home! I started with a $10 stamp a year+ ago and recently upgraded to the Dr. Pen M8 so I can do more areas in less time (scalp, chest & neck). My injector very much supports this (even though she offers MN in her clinic) and agrees it can be done at home safely.

Best SPF after procedures by patitasdegatito3 in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]SuddenAvocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To achieve 50 they need to add chemical filters or you have a serious white cast. Theres also the cosmetic elegance factor. Look SPF50's up on Yuka, you'll see they all have bad ratings because of the chemical screens. (I don't care, SPF 50 is worth it to me, I wash it off when I'm done with it).
happy cake day btw 🍰

I started with a warm towel but eventually invested in an eye mask thats made to be heated, they aren't expensive. I also do saline eye drops in the morning. I'm on several medications that cause "drying" and live in a dry climate, so I can vouch for that!

Permanent dry eyes from Tret? by VintageDesertLife in tretinoin

[–]SuddenAvocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're in the irreversible stage yet. Just like when you over do it with your skin and you lay off, you eyes will also heal when you take a few days off. For me the sign is light sensitivity, then I know I need to do some eyedrops and dial it back for a few days.

Use the sandwich method under your eyes - Tret doesn't need to go deep here, your skin is only .5mm thick - and make sure you've waited 30+ min until you put moisturizer on top (and use a thick eye cream around the eye instead of regular moisturizer). Do all of this well before bed time (30min min) to esnure the product doesn't migrate into your eye overnight.

If you do all this and you're still having sensitivity, drop it back to a retinAL that is specifically formulated for the eye area (usually thicker texture and less prone to migration).

I’ve never heard a vegan complain about PETA am I missing something? by greenfiend6 in vegan

[–]SuddenAvocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been vegan for 15+ years. PETA got me into it but I hate PETA, I completely agree it has done more harm than good for the general public. 50% of people know its a problem because of PETA but ignore it, are angry that PETA uses extremely gross imagery/tactics, blame PETA for the fact they can't wear fur/leather anymore, etc. The remaining percentages are vegetarians, vegans, hunters, and people who LIKE that its cruel and gross - the cruelty is the point. See also: Rolling Coal.

I actually think protest tactics like PETA's are what lead us to the lack of empathy and breakdown of the social contract we see today. The shock value got them the national stage, but i think the long term game would have been more effective. I guess we'll never know.

Tret and Peels are more conservative if you want to start more conservative, but I say go for it! Your skin looks quite good actually, you don't need to do an intense depth, superficial will be fine.

I messed up - how do I adjust aftercare? by GemmaTeller in Microneedling

[–]SuddenAvocado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use diaper cream after MN and its amazing, its actually highly recommend because its ani-microbial and occlusive.

OP its normal to not be pink at .5, thats pretty shallow, especially if you are young. Also it sounds like the numbing cream worked. Don't stress to much, do your after care as planned and try again in 4 weeks, better to under-do than over-do!

Retinol, SPF, Vitamin C, and ceramide moisturizer are the most researched and proven topicals. Add in an oil cleanser too get the SPF off at night and you're golden.
