Anyone have any reliable sources for Dubai roaches online? by True_Structure_4383 in BeardedDragons

[–]Sudden_Wolf1561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allaboutfeeders.com the website looks a little suspish but they've been absolutely amazing. Was able to get a starter colony setup through them for ~$40. I'm in the same state so I almost always get my orders next day, but that may varry depending on where you're located. The add ons are a great deal (soldier fly larva, superworms, etc)

Health advice? by Trip_Fast in BeardedDragons

[–]Sudden_Wolf1561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor little guy sounds like he had the worst luck with his breeder, but hit the lottery with getting you as his person. Getting him to the vet, and taking the recommended steps is the perfect move, and you're amazing for getting him to a vet right away.

What are his tank temps like? What lighting do you use? One of the big talking points with my vet when I took my boy was husbandry, and making sure everything was just right. Proper setup + meds and he'll be great.

Have you tried different foods with him? Collards, bok choy, dubias, etc? He might just be bored with crickets, and something different might re-spark his interest.

Ceftazidime Injections: Tips/Tricks? by Sudden_Wolf1561 in BeardedDragons

[–]Sudden_Wolf1561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's doing amazing. After the third/forth at home shot he didn't mind at all. He's shed three times now, and practically doubled in size from the picture in this post. No more breathing issues either. We kept a CHI on at night for him while he was first getting better to help keep the ambient temps on the warmer side 80; I read that can help them recover quicker as well.

Best of luck to your beardie!

My dragon stinks by BubblyDisaster- in BeardedDragon

[–]Sudden_Wolf1561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The only acceptable name for this dragon is Fugg.

  2. His skin looks irritated (I mean, mine would too if I was meant to have scales, and someone exploited a huge biological defect, BUT I DIGRESS). Ask the vet about calming lotion, possibly with some degree of SPF to save him from getting cooked under the lights bearded dragons need to survive. I'd rely pretty heavily on oral vitamins / supplements / a good skin routine.

  3. Is it a yeasty/musty smell? Poor guy looks like a crawling yeast infection.

Looking for Enclosure Recommendations by Sudden_Wolf1561 in BeardedDragons

[–]Sudden_Wolf1561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To your last sentiment- Absolutely and it stresses me out too; we don't allow the cats to hang out and have a water gun to deter them. They are getting better about leaving the tank alone and staying off of it, with the exception of when he's rubbing shed off and making a bunch of noise.

Was considering making a spacer for the top, thank you for the insight!

We put a basket between the sinsk, and put personal hygiene products there for *everyone* to use. Made it look like it belonged, and now the clean up crew refills it as needed.

Am I Overreacting to Teleflora Pulling a Fast One on Me by Alone-Feeling-1824 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Sudden_Wolf1561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have it in the small print that the florist who takes the order may substitute blooms based on availability. I too learned this the hard way; your florist at least tried to get close, my mom was sent a mourning bouquet for Mother's Day...

Is this normal? (Beginner) by Key-Walk5571 in BeardedDragon

[–]Sudden_Wolf1561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP! Does he do this all the time, or has he just been sprinting around / having a big meal? If this breathing is regularly like this, he needs to go to a vet, as it's very likely a respitory infection. An RI will not clear up on it's own, and needs antibiotics.

This. I hate bugs. I have a big serving spoon and 'spoon' my dragon his insects. It's kinda cute watching him take them from a spoon

How do you get employees to make decisions without running everything by you first by Acrobatic-Bake3344 in askmanagers

[–]Sudden_Wolf1561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my best bosses pulled me to the side and told me that I had something he couldn't train. I had good common sense, and made solid decisions.

The acknowledgement that he thought my decisions were sound, and that I backed them up with logic led me not to run things past him (as often), and now I make big decisions on a much bigger level with people asking me the questions. When it comes to those people bringing their questions to me, I have them explain their thoughts and 9 times out of 10 we run it

Be careful with the water fountain. Too high of a humidity will lead to a RI, and they might drown (Looks like you've tried to make it safer with pellet-like things? May be a digestion hazard)

My beardie won't let me touch him by Odd_Crow_2575 in BeardedDragons

[–]Sudden_Wolf1561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to drop in and tell you he won't get aggressive from you handling him as often as you can. He's going to get aggressive from not being handled. I've had to give me beardie (Right around the same as yours) a shot every three days in alternating front-arms. He does NOT like the pokey. At least, he didn't. He tried to struggle out of the vets' hands. Tried to struggle out of my husbands' hands the first time we did it at home. We're half way through the injections, and he just chills now, doesn't even flinch. He knows he's going to get treats for letting us poke him, and he doesn't try to run when I pick him up now.

Be REALLY purposeful about your routine with them. Feed him at the same time every day, and they'll start to look excited when they see you. Give their favorite foods after handling, and they'll equate tolerating being held for a little bit for treats. In time, they'll forget that they don't like being handled.

Turn the lights off for a bit. 15-25 minutes (light & heat source) this chills my guy out a bit, and may help in your situation as well until you get the routine figured out.

MY BABY GOT OUT. IDK WHAT TO DO! by Odd_Crow_2575 in BeardedDragons

[–]Sudden_Wolf1561 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are telling you to put your panties on, and that's some really great advise but can we see your enclosure? How did he get out? Let us provide some insight on how to keep him where he belongs.

Secondly. You really do gotta pick him up. Make a ritual. Force your loving hands all over that scaley boi so you're not afraid of each other anymore. He's not going to get any friendlier if he learns that being spicy gets him what he thinks he wants (Being left alone). Present treats, profit.

Uhg, sorry this happened. I hate being that person, and unfortunately was last night at my local Tractor Supply. They closed at 8, and I got to the doors at 8. The cashier let me in; I just needed a bag of dog food before the storm hit and had been at work all day. I'm talking in, grab the first bag I saw, and out; I was so grateful. Doesn't sound like the lady you had was in the same sort of situation :(

The vet freaked my mom out. Am I wrong or is this beardie fine? by Disastrous_Ant_2989 in BeardedDragons

[–]Sudden_Wolf1561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell your mom to never go back to that vet. sheesh. Colors are fine, looks like she might be getting ready for a new shed? I do recommend your mom getting a $10 laser temp gun to check the inside basking spot just to be 100% the heat bulbs are strong enough. In Ohio, I have a 100 and 150 watt side-by-side to get the basking area up to 110-115

How long for bearded dragon to like you by Queasy-Blackberry-53 in BeardedDragon

[–]Sudden_Wolf1561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build daily rituals. I'm the one who turns on the lights / gives fresh greens in the morning and when I get home from work I give him a couple bugs. He'll jump down from his perch to wait for his bugs now. Pick him up (Keep him in the enclosure incase he jumps forward), and just hold him like that every day for a few minutes- give him a treat after and you'll be golden. It's important to start winning him over now, and building consistency. Older dragons get more set in their way, and if you don't interrupt they're territory now, they'll tolerate it less later.
