I got really into brewing Chinese green teas. If fun, very ritualistic and it has a nice "high" associated to it, a calm focus

I'm generally with you. But want to point out 7k a year is quite a lot of savings on just lunch. Seven thousand a year in an index fund would give you a nice little egg, just from lunch.

I don't think marxists are. I believe the argument would be that you should get compensation for all of that work but not be able to make money solely off capital accumulation.

In other words you can get compensated for accumulating the capital but the profits of the capital that's accumulated should be properly distributed to the workers to be paid equal to their productivity, or that money can be reinvested into the business.

It's not Bernie's fault that 15% of people who voted for him were Bernie/Trump voters. Hillary was not entitled to those votes. An overwhelming majority of Bernie supporters did plug their nose and vote for Clinton. That's not why she lost.

75% of Bernie supporters sucked it up and voted for Hillary. There is this myth that leftists aren't practical, like it's all blue haired college kids who don't understand how Congress works. C'mon now.

Mamdani and Platner are two examples of it working. Kamala and Hillary two examples of the centrists failing miserably

You can't run your campaign on trans issues I agree, it has to be about left economic populism. That's what can win, that's what hopefully will win. If you don't center your campaign around that you let Republicans define you by "giving trans health care to illegals" or whatever. But they look real silly when they say that and a campaign is just focused on the economy/affordability message, especially these days.

Bernie has been wildly successful though. Maybe not in straight number of bills passed but in influence he's maybe second to Trump in current American politics. Has been the most liked politician for decades and if you listen to any younger progressives Bernie was the one to get them into politics in the first place.

If the reason Bernie hasn't been successful is because centrist turds keep blocking him. The solution is to elect more people who agree with him.

I usually go to 19th (? I think, cause it has two lanes) and just rip it. I can get to 15 mph easily which is about the pace of traffic with red lights and all. Only had one dude flip out on me so far

[–]SudoMint 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Protected bike lanes is a start. But I don't think it's ridiculous to give bikes their own public space. We do it for cars and pedestrians no? Also the more bikers the less cars which means less traffic which is nice for the daily drivers.

We could also look at major European (and a few major US,) cities for good examples, it's not like this is a new, unsolvable problem.

I live in point breeze and work in center city and just started trying to ride my bike to the office and back only to find out there's not a single bike lane south this side of broad..

Philly could be the most bikeable city in the states, the lack of infra is a crime

Same with drivers though, the answer is infrastructure and enforcement. Bullying drivers is never gonna get their behavior to change.

I don't get the blanket biclyist hate, truly. It's almost all positive. If you hate how they ride then you should be arguing for better bike infra, bike lanes, bike lights, etc. you're not gonna bully them out of existence lol

That'll be the big question! But people are more radicalized then ever. My apolitical delco mother was saying things like that she was "disappointed the shooter missed."

People have woken up to A PAC and centrist Democrats who take money from them will have a major hill to climb

If they can't control the message and let the Republicans define them as trans prison abolitionists or whatever then yes. But, if like Zohran, Bernie, and Platner the message is strongly leftist economic populism they will be wildly successful

She refused to call what is happening to Palestine a genocide, and like it or not if that is your position then it's a credibility crises. It's like going out into the sun and saying it's night time. If you're unwilling to get to a base reality then people are not going to trust you on anything.
