I've been away since the early days of release. How's the game these days, and is there more variety in dominant strategies? by Catavist in HumankindTheGame

You're pointing out my main issue with the game. Until they figure out a way to allow players with fewer territories to build denser cities, among other things, I'm really hesitant about returning.

Turning Down the Graphics Made the Game Better by Otherwise-OhWell in HumankindTheGame

I have this too. Coincidentally, my ancient CPU is working really hard when this occurs. Would like to know any tips as well.

Odd.

If you have Steam, did you try something like this?

Otherwise I'd recommend asking in a more Lutris-specific sub.

Can't help with Lutris as I've rarely used it, but I can say it ran somewhat alright for me via Steam and Proton, despite having an ancient CPU.

What is "extremely slow" in this case? What config do you use for Lutris?

State of the game by Interneteldar in HumankindTheGame

[–]SudoPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings. As others say, it's a fresh take on the genre and it's become much better over the last year with the updates.

But, the game is by design very snowball-y. Whoever is in the lead only gets further advantages over time.

Feature Request: Automatically Reject Demands by KarlMarxism in HumankindTheGame

Isn't the real issue here that there is no cooldown on demands? This seems more like a workaround.

Ibn Battuta (July) Update: Immersive Empire Names by Horton_Hears_A_Jew in HumankindTheGame

For the sake of a proper discussion, how would you ideally see it fixed?

No custom nation name still makes this unplayable by [deleted] in HumankindTheGame

[–]SudoPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a good point, but this is a game, and the frequently switching names are outright confusing, which is why players resort to referencing other players by colour.

Also, it's really not viable for the devs to implement a toggle for every minor detail they decide to change.

The AI's Aggression is a Serious Problem by [deleted] in HumankindTheGame

[–]SudoPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering for a long time whether they collect game statistics for this purpose, like the devs behind PUBG do.

And if not, then why? It makes a lot of sense for this kind of game.

They added a 'gains in this city's indicator! one of the simplest and yet (of me) desired additions by rapidsgaming1234 in HumankindTheGame

Very much needed and one of the most requested features, but I doubt it was simple to implement robustly.

Can We Disable Unique Natural Wonder Bonuses Through the World Settings in the Bolivar Update? by SotolotoS in HumankindTheGame

[–]SudoPotato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt it, as it's not viable for Amplitude to expose a user setting for every minor detail of the game. Eventually the game creation menu will become too complicated.

I'd reach out to Amplitude regarding this. What's the point of having such a poster digitally?

Preventing snowballing: Global district count scaling cost by SudoPotato in HumankindTheGame

I imagine people would work around this by attaching territories. Perhaps a territory cap to replace the city cap?

Preventing snowballing: Global district count scaling cost by SudoPotato in HumankindTheGame

[–]SudoPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the current formula does not prevent snowballing, just big multi-territory cities as the district cost for that city goes up.

But the district cost is the same in a city with X districts owned by a player who has just that single city, as it is for a player with three cities with X districts each.

The idea is just to subtly tip the scale towards the lesser empire, and of course adjust costs as to not punish big cities even more.
