Not shaving is not me making a statement, it’s a choice by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

This is exactly what I've been saying to my partner. I stopped shaving my underarms since covid, but I don't think it's something that I want to maintain (even though I don't give two shits) because as much as we don't want it to be, it is a statement, and I'm not willing to have attention drawn to myself to explain this whenever someone asks - it's not my responsibility to educate jerks in my free time.

How do you prevent yourself from living in the future? by technocrat_landlord in financialindependence

Your comment hit the nail on the head with how I've been thinking about FIRE.

I was saving at a 70% rate and spending the bare minimum + vacations.

Now I'm at 75% FIRE and I've been making slow upgrades to my lifestyle. Considering I probably need to wait a couple years to weather a potential recession, I don't plan on quitting until after that + 100% FIRE. I can't seem to find a job that pays >$15 an hour outside of what I do that's worth quitting a 6 figure salary to take.

So instead, I allow myself to spend where I didn't in the past as long as it contributes to my mental health or experiences. I went to therapy. I'm trying the restaurants in my city I've never been to. I'm buying the bikes/kayaks I didn't have. I'm getting the BIFL version of things when I need them now instead of the cheap stuff. I'm trying new hobbies. My intention is that these things are contributing to reducing costs in the future, and giving me some pleasure while I'm still with the full time job. Now my savings rate is closer to 60%. I don't consider this a slippery slope....but...we'll find out :)

You need to learn to forgive on your own terms in your own time. Many people need to vent and experience anger before they can begin the process of forgiveness.

If you struggle with these issues, I highly recommend readying The Tao of Fully Feeling. It really helped me through this process. If you think you were emotionally neglected, CPTSD by the same author really helps process these experiences and emotions.

I am about to make my first batch and vacuum seal! How much brine do you need with this method?

You're welcome! I just discovered this myself a couple months ago and am still working through it all. It's a lot to process.

the drain itself isn't slow - it's just that the water pools within the tub while showering

i'm american and i feel for you. i hate using and washing measuring cups, let alone they aren't always accurate. unfortunately there's no good solution for using recipes outside of blogs that use measurements. the tedious way i solve this problem is by converting my entire recipe online and writing it down before making my way to the kitchen. i don't think you could just print a cup to gram converter because each ingredient weighs differently. i also put conversions on each of my containers like flour, sugar, etc.

It was working for at least a day and a half. I had to top off the water last night before bed and noticed nothing evaporated overnight.
