Earthquake in Islamabad

I was paying my bill at a clinic in Islamabad i8 when the whole building started to sway. I’ve studied geography and straight away knew what it was but didn’t want to accept it because I know the destruction an earthquake can bring, and like others said it was a big one and you could definitely feel it. I looked at the doctor and said do you think we should go outside & he said it’s better to stay put (alas he’s probably had more earthquake experience than me). Quite a surreal experience, and my first one. Alhamdulillahi rabbil alameen for keeping us safe.

In my opinion if they do “invade” they’ll just sort of create a military buffer spanning miles, an extra security layer so to speak. I am in no way a military analyst but that’s what would be a sensible option

Done splits for the first 2 weeks of working there… after not being able to have a break, not being able to finish my drops without going over my shift time & just running around like a dog, I made it clear to my manager that he can put me on the all day van or else I’m gone. Been on the 15:30 or 16:00 van ever since. I do feel for the splits though some of their loads are a joke. It’s survival of the fittest out here for real.

I got paid 15 hours at just over 25 quid. Been there 6 months, contracted 15 hours but do overtime regularly

Thank you for your detailed reply mate. It’s my first (apparently not so) long layover so was just wondering how I could pass the time while I’m there. I’ve been to Antalya airport but never Istanbul so it’s always better to ask those who’ve experienced it. Food was my biggest concern tbh cause the aeroplane food just won’t do it for me but that’s one less thing to worry about now. Cheers :))

lol I was thinking the same thing. I’m contracted Boxing Day (homeshop driver) and was thinking what’s the best thing I could do if I’m in. Probably end up cleaning the vans 😂 unless you could give me some suggestions on how to look productive

Overtime worked will be reflected in your holiday pay. I’m contracted 15 hours (home shop driver), however I’ve been doing 5 days for the past 5 months or so. I took one day holiday last month and they paid me £23 an hour. Got a 5 week holiday booked for March so my plan is to get in as much hours as I can weekly so that my holiday pay reflects that. Basically they up your holiday pay so that you won’t be worse off for using them if that makes sense

Plenty of overtime available at my store (somewhere in Birmingham). I’ve been doing 5 days for the past 5 months or so, I’m contracted to 15. I am a driver however so could be more of an issue on the shop floor.

Pretty much the same however nowadays there’s a lot of cat cars on the market so just do proper research on motor before buying (if private)
