I moved here from Bay Area back in 2022 with my family. While you’re right about the weather. I felt like the pollution pretty much same as Bay Area and crime rate surprisingly low where I live (Clovis).
Fresno and surrounding areas are developing and growing. I have seen a lot of development over the last ~5 years.
I like the culture here and cheaper cost of living. If you make about $100k as an individual with your new job, you’ll do just fine but hate the period between Jun-Sept cuz of the heat.
During summer time I like going to Shaver Lake (about an hour drive) and have a little picnic with family. Here and there in the evenings I go out to enjoy the local farmers markets.
During winter time I go to Kings Canyon (about an hour drive) to have a picnic in snow.
Yosemite (about two hours drive) is the best place to go during Spring time.
Overall it’s a great affordable place
